You should put the flyer on your profile page:
http://www.londonfgss.com/account/269/as there are numerous references to "Scott's bag" or similar. new ppl might read these threads and want to know more... you get the idea.
-
Jeez ppl are sensitive.
scott not scot ok...'constructive' critcism would have been to whisper to me any faults that you just 'happened' to notice....
This being a group forum I thought we'd all discuss this as we do bikes and other shit.
scott not scot ...to plaster a full size picture covered in scribbles of red like an angry teacher scribbling on a childs homework is not helpful to me....
I make and sell bags....if seeing a yellow line a micron out,or the shade of yellow hurts your eyes, then you have my humble apology.
thanks.I scribbled all over it cause it was the quickest way to make my point.
I was trying to make the point that if I happened to notice it then others will. Some ppl are really anal about shit (I'm probably one of them but not that bad really). This flyer (for some ppl) will be all they know of your company before they decide to investigate further. First impressions are important etc...
I thought a less "bright" shade of yellow would work better and be a little easier on the eye.
You're only as strong as your weakest link and from what I've seen of your bags the flyer is the weakest link (meaning the bags seem great the flyer is almost there, just pointing out ways it could be better).wayne_f14 tallsam
all your points are subjective except the text alignment
[and thats what happens when you're helping a fellow forummer out at 12.30 in the morn]I never claimed they weren't subjective.
Props for helping him out I was just trying to help out too.wayne_f14
do ya think a general deconstruction/ tyre kicking discusiion could be held as whispers to the relevant people. I think i answered LPG's concerns previously.see my previous comment.
Perhaps yes but I was just trying to treat the flyer in the same way we'd crit a bike/product/event/whatever, as a community.wayne_f14
Archie's grobags rock ! He's got off his arse and made something that's quality and there are people on the forum that are more thatn happy to help him and buy from him - feedback is brill and instructive but probably best kept as two way conversations not as a 'oooohhh I don't like the colour' shit kicker festFrom what I've seen of his bags I agree with you entirely they look great.
The fact that he's started this as a business is brilliant, the fact that the forum has rallied round him and in return got the bags they wanted is great too.
I didn't mean it to turn into a shit kicker fest.Sorry. Didn't mean to offend. I'm tired and its late (here).
I really do think your bags look great. I wish you the best of luck.
Wayne: the flyer is great besides the things I mentioned (as you point out some are subjective and just my POV). Again didn't mean to offend etc...

lpg I think you can improve it. Think about who you're trying to sell it to. You're asking people to spend £160 on a bag - that's fine, things are worth whatever people are willing to pay for it, but the people who'll buy it will undoubatably be quite intelligent people who make a lot of money. You really have to work at persuading people that it's worth spending the extra cash with you..
Look at the alternatives - there are similar sized bags out there for cheaper. You've should think, when somebody is looking to buy a bag, what makes yours a cut above the rest?
What has your bag got that others don't?
A) Very customizable
B) One man company
C) Made in the UK
D) Supporting local business, environmental friendly materials, etc etc...Use these to your advantage.
Agreed.
SMEEAR extra cash, ive been wondering what you mean by this
surely a rival pac is around £200, i was looking at one just tother day.
it wasnt built half as hard and it had not stayed waterproof£160 for scott gets you a bag thats better IMO
You can get brand new Royal Mail bags for £25 and a plethora of other cheap messenger bags. Obviously they aren't as good but I agree with lpg you need to sell the extras/customisation/quality/features of these bags more.
Also I'm not trying to be a cunt, just trying to provide constructive criticism. I'm not a designer just pointing out stuff that I noticed. If your bags are as good as smear says then it doesn't seem right that you'd make small mistakes on your flyer. Does that make sense?

I hope you go through the website with a finer tooth comb. After all it's your shop front so to speak. (book by its cover etc...)
I didn't spell check it. I'm guessing you did.

hippy Another bunch of Anglais heading to Oz while poor hippy suffers through English winter.. sigh
You might wanna ask on cyclingforums.com - find the aus.bicycle section.
There's also http://www.fixed.org.au/ which might be able to help.Fsck.. never even been to WA.. I've seen more of Germany than Australia..
http://groups.google.com/group/aus.bicycle/topics - not as good but worth a look.
empty7 Moving to Perth in June 08 for 12 months while we buy a flat in Melbourne, let me know if you have any luck. Best beaches. See you there!
Why are you moving to Perth to buy a flat in Melbourne? To save money?

That bit of wire is perfectly adequate. In my life of cycling (lots) I've snapped like 2 and they were both on my BMX as a kid. I've ridden bikes with frayed and rusty cables and not had any trouble. and besides if one brakes I have the other. and if both brake I can drag my foot along the ground or put it on the back tire.
Honestly some of you fixed wheel riders seem to talk like there was shit wrong with normal bikes but now that "fixies" have come along to save the day all is better. Cable brakes are perfectly fine for all road riders, fixed or not. Anyone who claims they need something more adequate is lying and arrogant. (Coaster brakes excepted).
Your "fixie" is no safer than a normal bike with two wire brakes.

hippy So tonight's commute some plonker in Acton has a go when I pass some other plonker on a bike who rode in front of me at the lights.
I arc up. Driver arcs up.
Stuck behind a bus he's now hopefully seeing the full stupidity of beeping me because I was "in his way".
Nope. Shouting continues. We shuffle in traffic.
He raises fists as if asking for a fight so I slow down and near his door (not 'that' close though!) I tell him to get the fsck out of his car now.
Surprise surprise.. big man doesn't wanna get out of his car.. (pissweak.. your missus has a bigger cock). Make point of getting rego.
To prove to this dumbass in his blue MG and his boyfriend that bikes are quicker.. I follow them from Acton all the way to West Ealing before getting bored and swinging off home.
I love getting angry! And the gf has made me apple pie! All in all apart from the damp, a sweet ride home :)Yesterday a guy beeped at me cause he couldn't pass me on a very narrow section of one way road - not my fault clearly. I turned round, slowed down, told him to fuck off and gave him a two finger salute - without thinking. Bike rage is so natural to me now. It's actually quite worrying, if someone actually hits me I'm likely to punch them without even thinking. I don't mean this in a "I'm so hard way" I don't like how quick I am to get mad. I need to chill out a bit.

lpg Only in England do you get police saying "Excuse me sir, would you mind accompanying us to the station?".
I've run red lights before, and most of the time the police have just given me a quiet lecture. This happens nowhere else!
In no other country are they so civil, they'd just beat the shit out of you.
You don't know how lucky we are...
Quite right the Police in the UK are generally nice ppl. Be polite and don't break too many laws in the first place and they'll usually be nice to you. I've been nicked and charged (drugs, speeding, drunk and disorderly, vandalism) a number of times and never said a bad word about them and likely never will. I was in the wrong all the times they caught me so whats the point shouting and swearing at them for doing their job. If I wasn't me I'd have wanted me arrested at those times. Plus they always got on with me after the initial arrest. One time they even said I was "the nicest person they'd ever arrested" - I'm quite proud of that one.
Of course there are are a few bad apples but not quite as many as ppl think.

slamm a WPC (is that PC?) stopped me in Leicester Square and 'advised' me to get off my bike and to watch myself around town as they're clamping down big time on cycling on pavements, rlj'ing etc with on the spot fines being enforced.
Luckily didn't fine me then said 'nice bike by the way' as I set off.
WPC isn't used anymore. It's all just PC. You may well offend one if you call her a WPC.
To be honest I've got no sympathy for you ppl getting fined. As road users we need to obey the road rules. Simple as. They fine ppl for jaywalking so why not red light jumping on bikes?

TTP = Top Tube Pad
DR = Derailieur/Derailer - this one isn't all that common to be honest.
Rake = usually preceeded by Fork (fork rake) - I'd suck at explaining it and I'm not into copy pasting so see here instead.
