Can anyone recommend the best sub-£30 solar USB charger? Or what to look out for? I imagine there is huge variation with these things. It needs to charge at 2000mA.
It could go up to £50 if there is some giant leap in quality, but I imagine it is all incremental.
Maybe I should post this elsewhere as well, but I will be using it for touring so this sort of makes sense... Thank you

haha! Thanks VB for the thorough and educational response.
I am not techy (although I am interested generally in how things work) and I came across it in a client meeting today and thought it sounded like it could be useful. I think as an idea it might be, but clearly it is too hard to make work without affecting usability.
I would just use firefox but for some reason while work allow me to have it on my machine, they won't allow me to download the addons required to make it watch videos, which is more annoying than the search box not working, so I stick to IE!

two things, and I don't know if this is the right place or if they've been discussed before:
on my work computer in internet explorer only, when I press return on the search box top right, it refreshes the page but does not search. When i use firefox the same thing doesn't happen.
have you come across this http://skimlinks.com/skimlinks ? presumably yes, maybe you're already doing it, I don't know - could it be a good way to make money from the forum?
Sorry, don't know v much tech stuff about either...

I can't find the DA one I thought I had - I do have a black Time ceramic teflon 52T spare though - send me a pm with your email add and I'll send you a photo if you're interested. Alternatively I have just bought an Ultegra SL chainset and I'd happily put the Time one back on my bike and sell you the Ultegra SL ring if you wanted. Don't know how much it is worth - it's done 20 miles max since last Friday when it was fitted new.

I was looking at these this AM:

he appears to have a normal front derailer on it as well, even though only one chain ring? And only one sprocket at the back

A cabbie told me recently that he gets 18 mpg max from his TXII. The mid (late?) TXIs are apparently better with a 2.7 ltr Nissan engine (IIRC). All of the oldest ones will have to be taken off the road in London - they'll still be allowed elsewhere. I think it might have been cabs more than 4 years old, don't remember.
I don't understand why cabs are treated as public transport - they are chauffeurs you pay by the hour, and completely at odds with the shared ethos of other public transport - I wonder if they should be treated like cars (not allowed in bus lanes, no special privileges).
I have not thought this through on any deep level, it just occurs to me occasionally when cycling around.
Maybe I should start wearing a mask.

thank you for all the suggestions, I am going to do some research - keep them coming though, particularly personal experience. slight thread derail, but definitely useful when touring!
