So I just recieved the Chelsea Pedlars news letter so i thought I'd put up the contents and get a grass thread started...
Annual Bike Polo Tournament – 15 August
a. Thank you to all who played and helped out with the tournament, we had an absolutely amazing day! 12 teams fought it out for the ultimate prize! The finals being played between Team Ireland and the Hardcourt All Stars (photo below). We witnessed a nail biting game but the Irish came out on top. It was great to see the Irish and Oakenden teams again, both are extremely strong clubs and we’d love to field teams for their next tournaments, dates will be sent out in due course. Thanks also to the Hardcourt All Stars for braving the West and the grass! They are used to playing on somewhat harder and smaller surfaces but confessed that “grass is the new concrete”, they were a great crew and we’ll be heading over their way to play soon. Finally a thank you to the rest of our teams the Mosquitos, Team Cheltenham, Insanos Velos, Eurotalk, Team RamRod and both the Chelsea Pedalers teams, everyone contributed towards a fantastic day of bike polo.
Weekly Bike polo - Game on Wednesday 6:30 onwards – Bishops Park
I also got an email about horse polo tasted day if anyone is interested...if you are give me a shout or somthing and i'll send you the email.

Got an email from Caitlin over at the Chelsea Pedlars;
"Thanks for getting your crew together on the weekend! Was great to get you over for a bit of grass pitch bike polo, well done in your game against the Irish!
I’ll put you on the email list for our Wednesday games and we’d also definitely be keen to join you for some hardcourt games."
I have given the Chelsea boys and girls links to the new to polo thread so they will know where we are and on what days as well as this one. I, as well as many others have expressed an interest in getting back down to play some more. Caitlin is going to keep me updated with what's going on and I'll get a grass thread going or something. Grass is the new concrete!

There is this one guy who looks like a baby, but isn't. And has really whispy beardy bits. Looks like a bit like an asian wolverine. Except he has crazy stretched ear lobes. And we call him hoser. He also invented bike polo - before he went to India for four months. He also lives on a boat. And in a past life he was apparently one hell of a golfer. And ping pong player. But that was when he wasn't busy grading papers. He speaks Spanish fluently, but his English has not so good. And his girlfriend loves nothing more than yelling his name as loud as possible on the court side lines. He also has the magic key that lets us play polo all night long. He was possibly the grumpiest player at Shoreditch, but he claims that was because he was distracted about his imminent move to Australia. Where we all hope he goes back to - or at least the states. Then we wouldn't have to stare at his bobbing ginger quiff on the court while he takes fucking hard shots 3 feet away from goal. At least he has a brake now. I mean, seriously. Guys. Guys.
H that's awesome! I'll buy you beer if you'll write my dissertation.

Fucking awesome day! Definitely going to get down to play grass with those boys again in a couple of weeks.
1st game 4-1
2nd, We think it was 14 - 1 but maybe we're being too kind but fuck it it was a stupid lead. The BMX boys put up a good fight but they had no control. at one point they tried a brake the guy was going too fast and couldn't stop, went straight over the back line up a bushy verge straight into a tree, came out so Pique could come one for the second half, heckling my own team from the sideline felt right, my favourite of the day "go back to Hackney'.
3rd game was 4-3 or 5-4 close the whole way 1-0, 1-1, 1-2 etc. One of my favorite bit of play was when we were 1-2 down with 20second to go of the first chucker and got the 2nd goal withing seconds of the wistle. couch good shot aidan cough
4th game we put up a good fight but the irish boys were just TOO good, they made full use of the pitch, fast play, long balls and they played our weakness just sligtly too well. Lovely goal to equalise though. If I may say so. If we were going to loose to anyone it was going to be them and i'm gald it was them.
All in all a great day of polo, beautiful weather, good convoyed ride out, friendly refs and really friendly organisers. It's a shame more people didn't come down but next time boys and girls get off your arse! Big thanks to everyone who came down to support, it was awesome that Brendan got in on a game too, would be interesting to see the footage some time. Slamn pull your socks up and sort out the pictures!!! Appsolute pleasure playing with Hassan, Matt, Matt and Pique great players and even when we wern't playing too well we had a smile on our faces. Any time you guys need a team for a grass tournement you let me know.
Newington tonight, Peckham next week.
