dogsballs my work is through halfords. a few of us have tried to get multiple bikes from outside there range and they say "sorry we are unable to purchase that product". f@""@n wankers, can get stuffed. And this is from a big workplace. it may be ok if you want a £100 shitter though, but if you are a cyclist forget about it.
But like I say, you don't have to go to Halfords....

woffle One things on the whole cycle2work thing - avoid Halfords.
I work for a small firm (<75 UK employees) and I'm trying to guide our HR bod through signing us up with someone half decent. With Halfords it seems that the bike you buy is limited by scheme size with only those with more than 100 people signing up getting anything outside Halfords stock range. I think this a relatively recent change.
We looked at Velorution (sp?) and a couple of others 'open-source' schemes but it looks like we're signing up with Evans on the promise that we can get whatever we want - I'm after a folding commuter so it looks like a Bike Friday or Airnimal are going to be the best bets (there's a fixed Airnimal that I quite fancy copying)...
Where I work (local authority) we just had to find the bike we wanted at any dealer that was taking part in the scheme. There's no necessity to 'sign-up' with any one dealer for everyone. You can find a national list of participating shops on the bike2work site.

Simon Yes the pink splatter will be first thing to go. Some plain black cork would suit I think.
I was thinking the same re. carrying a spare tub. There was one cable-tied onto the seatpost when I got it. Think I'll revert to inner tubes. Keen to keep those super-smooth campag hubs though, so I guess I'll have to have the wheels rebuilt with conventional rims? Presumably I can't just put standarad tyres on these rims.
Yeah clincher rims clinch the tyre, sprints (for tubs) don't have the high edge. Rather than rebuild my wheels I got a pair of Ambrosios and thought I'd sell the Campag sprints.

I stopped riding on tubs 'cos I didn't like having to lug a spare around with me. And if you do puncture you have to head home - deperately hoping not to have another flat.
I'd leave that geared if it was mine, but that splatter bar tape would have to go - it was by no means compulsory to have it back then....

FixAxioN i cant see the ones u mentioned? can you link me up?
Campagnolo Khamsin Wheelset - would that fit a my Fuji fixed? :O
i'm a bit of a newbie with wheels :P
Sorry about that - I didn't realise they weren't actually featured in the link page (doh). If you drop them an e-mail they'll give you a price for a pair of Ambrosio track wheels, the dishing is completely different than for geared bikes. This is the e-mail: info@davehinde.com

Yeah I was riding it this weekend - too wet for my new Wilier road bike! The Colnago looks even better now I swapped the original track forks for a pair of straight drilled chromed ones with the Colnago stamp on them - looks really good.
As for the wheels mmmm, I dunno, they're old but they're true, they're not shiny, but they're Campag, they also come with nicely matured tubs and a couple of spares. Sod it, GBP100... -

exactly what i keep saying to our finance people, but they have some exclusive deal with halfords. i persisted for a while, but gave up in disgust.[/quote]
Bummer - non-cyclists trying to foist crap bikes of which they know nothing on to aficionados...
