Hello,
One of the Audax Club Hackney riders, Tim Sollesse, has set up a series of Audax's on Sunday the 9th March 2014 - distances range from 50km to 200km.
All events are registered with Audax UK - http://www.aukweb.net/events/.
Rides are:
200km: London - Oxford - London.
"200km cycling event starting from London, Ruislip Lido, Woody Bay Station. Controls at Quainton Memorial Hall, St Aldate's, Didcot Railway Station and Crown Public House Station Road Chinnor, plus 2 information controls"...

**Entry and further details: **http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-598/.**50km: Single Track. **
"50km cycling event starting from London, Ruislip Lido, Woody Bay (beach) Station. Controls at Burnham Beeches Cafe 'reciept', plus 1 information control".
**Entry and further details: **http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-601/.All four events start at Ruislip, which is a reasonably short distancefrom central London.
The routes, given that there are three distances, should provide something for everyone - a basic 50km ride with plenty of time for even the most inexperienced riders to make it round in time, up to a 200km, which given it's only early in the year should prove enough of a challenge for more experienced riders!
Any questions let us know, otherwise please spread the word, and if you can make then please do!

^It's all yours man!
Yeah 200km is more than enough for me right now. Well out of practice with all things audax, last one I did was the AAAnfractuous in october :sExcellent, we'll have to sort ou meeting on the Friday nearer the time, and how I'll get you the money!
Ed - are you joining ACH? want to buy a jersey?
-
Anybody doing the Poor Student 200 who would like to join me and EdScoble in the travelodge the night before?
Forget a 4:30am start from london, roll out of bed in the morning over to the start line in style with us ;)
Jordan - I'm probably up for this! is there still space?
I'd be riding from Milton Keynes, and really can't face riding up to to 300km this early in the year, riding 250km should be okay though... -
If you were going to spend £600 cycling then you could get the Eurostar down to the Alps and stay in a 5 star hotel for a week (possibly...) for that money...
As Maxl says - do it yourself, the ferries are cheap, the routes are easy to find online and if you were to simply plan a date and means of doing it (ie, how many days, and would you go via Calais or Dieppe) then advertising it as a ride on here would inevitably get a few more involved! It's by no means a 'short' ride, but it's pretty straightforward in terms of organising, and you'd need so little stuff with you then I couldn't see any justification of paying for someone else to organise it!
-
The race is now full. Did anyone sign up?
errr, not me...
I would love to do something like this, but I just can't afford the time needed to train enough to do it justice, plus I'd probably have to get another bike, my current audax bike - the Iron Butterfly - probably wouldn't be up to it as well...
anyone else?
-
Do turbo miles count? ;)
Given that this is organised by Rapha, I would suspect is would all depend on the location of the turbo - riding 500 miles on a turbo placed in the middle of the velodrome in Roubaix would likely be accepted, 500 miles in your bedroom might not...
I'm considering the possibility to ride to Paris and back, though I'm not sure how that will fit in with the, now traditional, excessive consumption of alcohol in the lead up to, on, and immediatley after christmas day...

August 2014: London to Istanbul, checkpoints in Paris, the Stelvio Pass and Montenego... that's just the 2500miles then...
Where do I sign?

Hackney GT river ride this Saturday, it also coincides with Audax Club Hackney's 'AGM' in the evening - all details are in this thread -

The connection between the two is that Hackney GT made the jerseys for Audax Club Hackney...

You know the Pendle's not on next year! Although there was talk of a 1000km...
The Swan with Two Necks 600km, also run by Andy Corless (the sadist behind the Pendle) would be worth a look instead - http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-7/
I'm intrigued as to whether Andy Corless's 1,000km will ever materialise, I would be prepared to guess that if it does it might well end up being the most challenging ride in the calender for next year, though currently this - http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-393/ is looking to be a pretty hilly event!

Yesterday I received my validated brevet card from the pendle 600 in the post, but andy corless had also included two photos he took of me cycling up what I think is wrynose pass!

Was a lovely surprise, really nice touch from the org :)
I just got a couple myself as well - I remember him being up Hardknott Pass for the couple he took of myself - so I wonder whether yours were taken up Hardknott too? bearing in mind I was nearly in tears whilst ascending Wynrose I might well have missed him...
I'm looking forward to the Swan with Two Necks next year!

There are two days in a weekend...
I feel I need to bag some audax points to justify my recruitment by AC Hackney. Also thinking about one of these http://events.paudax.com/content/aandn on 5 October.
Probably the less Anfractous
Don't worry KT - I'm pretty sure I'm second in line for the Lanterne Rouge! I am planning on riding that weekend, first ride of the new season and I reckon there will be a fair few ACH's out that weekend too. I've not been on the bike at all in three weeks though, so I reckon I'll be pushing the time limit!

- Nitto tall stem with 26mm clamp, almost perfect condition £25
- Shimano R400 drop bar levers £10
Grab these please - just in crofton park - can collect tomorrow.
Ha - it looks like were posting at the same time, though you'd got in there first!
If the sale doesn't go through for any reason then I'm still interested - I wonder if we are building a similar bike as well?

Katy - It's probably worth acknowledging now that I'd certainly not going to be up at 6.45 to make the 8am start... I'll likely just have to wait for the acid to wear off then head out in the afternoon for some exciting 'training' down in Kent or something...
Have a good time all those who do make it!

This is probably not necessary but I'd just posted a thread for a series of Audax's being organised on the 9th March by one of the ACH riders!
