Using my magic maths that's a maximum time limit of 216/15 = 14.4h for the whole thing.
I've just had a thought - I'm pretty sure the time limit is capped for the 200km, so 200km / 15. With the addititional 16km its just 'overdistance' and you just need to find the time within the time limit.
The main killers for time I find are the controls, especially when they involve a cafe or something - we've done plenty of 200's in 12hrs, and I always wondered why we were so slow, but it's all the bloody controls! (and hills...)

I've not trawled through all the previous posts recently but i'm sur this tent has been mentioned several times previously - http://www.gelert.com/products/solo_tent
Gelert solo, one person tent. I picked one up on eBay for £35 and just spent the last ten days cycling around the Austrian Alps and into the Black forest in Germany - the tent worked perfectly, the weather was mainly warm and dry but I did have several periods of quite heavy rain - no problems at all though.
My only concern was that it would have an issue with condensation, and I'd heard other having the same issue - the solution: an Alpkit Bivvy Bag over my sleeping bag!
I'll definately use it again and would recomend it to anyone looking for a cheap tent!

LEL is nearly here, though I'm not riding! so instead I wanted to float a few ideas for Audaxing over the next few weeks...
I have the Old 240 on Aug 17th, which, despite the name, is 400km, so I need to get in some miles.
26th July: Look Mum No Sleep - is anyone else signed up to this?
4th July or 11th July: I'm going to ride the Meridian Hills 200km (http://www.aukweb.net/perms/detail/WW11/), riding out from Mile End and starting the Audax at the Green St Green Control, with the out and back it's 270km.
Anyone interested?

I think I'll be doing The Buzzard now, pretty sure I'll be in for it.
My last exam is on the 12th so would be a nice way to relax afterwards!
(Or give me a long time to mull over all the mistakes i'll have made >.< )You can direct trains out from euston to leighton buzzard on the morning of the 13th to reach the start in time, but I'll try and persuade my sister to let me crash.
Has anyon got any idea why this ride starts/ finishes in Leighton Buzzard? as a veteran of Milton Keynes I have experieced first hand the full horror of Leighton Buzzard (Vesalius - Leighton Buzzard is often referred to as the thinking mans Hexham).
I did have this pencilled into my rides list, but unfortunately I'm away that weekend!

I'm not riding LEL, I wanted to back in January, though decided I'd rather go touring instead. This is partly why I'd done so little other distance before the Kernow - no main goal to train for.
The weather was nowhere near as bad as forecast, thank god, but still, a long dry night would have been a bit nicer!
ahem... AC Hackney... ahem...

Christ, that was some serious suffering, the ride had everything - amazing route over the Yorkshire moors, pennines, lake district to name only a few, the weather was challenging - sunny with showers then heavy rain at night, thick fog in the morning then more showers Sunday, we had about 30 mins sleep in a bus stop over the whole ride and one of the controls, in Hexham was basically in a kebab shop at kicking out time - wet, lycra clad males and drunk locals together at last. I was suffering from the start and it never stopped.
5 Audax Club Hackney riders started together, 5 finished together.

That's what I was hoping - and forgetting to eat is not something I've ever struggled with. Will brace up. Thank you for the pep talk!
I've got more... If you are ever offered home made custard the answer is always NO. It might be fine in the garden if you are doing a spot of weed killing, but it's not what you want to be eating whilst riding. Stick to baked beans.

I've entered - what's the worst that can happen? (I get found a crumpled, broken mess in a ditch near Oundle, probaby).
I'm pretty sure this is where you refer back to the old Audax saying - "if you can ride 200km then anything over that is psychological" - basically, if you want to ride 300km and have a base level of fitness then you'll be fine. Make sure you eat well at the controls, and don't waste too much time at controls though. 300km is a good distance for Audax, the perfect sun up till sun down full days riding.

Yeah, that's what I meant- waste of half a year's membership cash.
I have CTC insurance so it's really not necessary. Turns out the guy running the Ware brevets this Sunday, who I rang after posting that^..^ is happy to allow me to enter on the line.
Fair enough, if you can enter, and are not bothered about not being able to list all the rides, and accumalate the points on the AUK website then it is not really worth it.
I personally quite like have the list of rides completed, as a palmares, though obviously thats a bit sad and the reality of actually cycling in great places shouldn't be superseded by collecting points.
I'd noticed a few times you had posted about weighing up whether or not to enter slightly longer rides, I'm not sure whether the question was about being able to do it or not - in which case my advice is just do it, if you can ride 160km without needing to call an ambulance then you could easily cover 200km/ 300km given that Audax is quite low intensity, just eat loads!
-
I notice that too, especially when the front end lifting when you tried to start, a rearranging the saddle bag onto the handlebar helped slightly.
The Passes actually made me reassist what bicycle I want and that's an audax with a handlebar bag rather than the saddlebag as previously aiming for.
Ed - are you going to enter?

I'm just entering into another Audax later in the year;
The Old 240 (http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-933/)
a "406km cycling event starting from Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire. Controls at SETTLE, DENT, ALSTON, SCOTCH CORNER and GARGRAVE... One of AUK's toughest and most scenic events, climbing its way through classic Pennine landscapes"
The route has been plotted here - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/The-Old-240
.
I just booked train tickets from Kings Cross to Halifax, 14:48 Friday, 12:13 return Sunday - £24.50.
No plans for accomodation yet, though I'm sure Halifax has a Travelodge.
Anyone else interested?

KT - what time would you expect to be in Dedham Vale?
I'm up for riding this Sunday and this looks good, the main issue I'll be facing though is the small matter of a party on Saturday night... staying awake all night then riding is no problem, but drinking a thousand cans of cheap lager might be an issue...
