I enjoy roundabout surfing like the next person, but they are a bad idea--a huge land take with generally deserted central islands (not all have something worth seeing on them, like an Arc de Triomphe) leading to severance, higher casualty rates for cyclists and pedestrians, and no motor traffic capacity advantage once signalised to reduce casualties.
Of course there should be fewer traffic signals--many are only put in these days because of predictive traffic modelling. However, at roundabouts they are certainly better, as otherwise you get a lot more cyclist and pedestrian casualties. They have to be applied consistently, though--if you look at inconsistently signalised roundabouts like E&C or HPC, you have one major explanation right there why they still strike fear into many cyclists.
very interesting - so why do roundabouts kill cyclists...?

If rain or dirt touches any of my sacred Italian steeds I immediately dismantle, clean each part individually and reassemble - the best advice I can give you my son is unless you feel the devotion - don't ride Italian
Italian bikes only ever run on hand made 19mm veloflex so light that they skim over potholes never sinking in
-
Saw a popo car doing the same thing the other day, but they put their little blue lights on just for a few seconds while they did so, then trundled on to the next traffic tailback and sat in it, patently not in any rush to go anywhere.
I'm all for rljing, where safe and no peds trying to cross. Coppers too.
In fact I'm all for getting rid of the damn things, just needed for peds so should there ought to be pelican lights 'on demand' only.

A world of roundabouts - I love roundabouts - they are so much fun
