Skinnier tyre d'uh.

I was looking into carbon twill fabric to make some discs... it's bloody expensive to get enough layers to laminate up.
Even the carbon / kevlar stuff is costly.. and thats before you add cost of epoxy and the rest...

...it's roughly 200gsm, and you've got 5-8 layers per side, it's not going to be that light anyway...
