^twas me pointed him here.. hence explaining the newbie lack of netiquette?
He was selling his bits 'n pieces on gumtree over the last 2 weeks.. so I mentioned londonfgss.com as a good way to spread the word.
I should have said to put his stuff in the ebay craigslist finds thread.. my bad!.
yeah, it is a bit grating what with the ALL-CAPS, lack of detail, etc. I dont know this guy from Adam. but the world now has his name and phone number?! -

Did you push the pin out all the way? If so you should remove (shorten chain by) a pair of links and extend using the excesss that you have kept aside.
Otherwise it is just a matter of lining the links up properly witht the pin sticking out of the outer plate aligned with the pin of the chain tool and twisto-presto!
Seriously - google it. park tools website. bikeshop it. -
You will need to take both the cranks off (crank extractor reqd.) and measure the external dimension of the bare BB spindle.
If you've got that far you might want to borrow the right tool to take the bottom bracket out and measurements will be written on it.
Then you might as well buy and fit the new bottom bracket. :-) -

erm. put the old cranks back on?
If you are having trouble with using the chaintool then check out the park tools website.

Plastic clips (used kingfisher, tioga, mt. christophe) - a) don't get bent out of shape if they hit the road/kerb when you ride on the back of the pedals. b) look a bit wrong on a road bike. c) are more comfortable in my opinion. d) are more likely to break in a crash. not sure if this is good / bad?
Metal clips (using MKS) - a) look good + classic bling factor. b) my left clip got scraped to sh1t and bent up regularly coz I was riding on the back plenty. c) can cut into shoes.
Straps - nylon straps last longer, cheapo leather strap lasted less than 1 week. never tried laminated / double / expensive ones.. -
-
Cheap option - I bought a pair but not used them yet. Sole is a bit thick, but seems stiff. Fit is snug/bit narrow - I bought 47 and am a wide size 11/12uk.

I remember you picking those up at Herne Hill for a ridiculously small sum. £1.50?
Maaaaan you get all the bargains! Have you thought about a side-line as a personal shopper for 'fixed-riding hip urbanites'?
