I can't believe he didn't get any real jail time. The guy was a professional thief, stealing bikes for three years. Yet with over a 100 offences taken into consideration, albeit only 10 charged for, the judge gave him an ASBO, some community service and a suspended sentence. Piff. They seemed most proud for banning him from the trains.

I've got an old front wheel lying around that needs truing. The rim and hub are fine. Seeing as it's not needed for anything, I'm thinking I might rebuild it myself as a learning experience (can't believe I just used that phrase).
Anyone got any good tips, suggestions for books, guides, resources, etc?

I guess getting a discount for posting on a cycling forum could be nice...
Just read this thread all the way through. I think being a member of a forum like this one will considerably increase the bike spending of a lot of new members. All the reviews, plugs for shops and bike porn don't half make you want to start a new build before you've finished your last.

28 or 32 front and 36 rear sounds like a safe bet.
Kills that nice symmetrical look though.

I know they get a lot of stick, but some designers are actually quite into "design", and not just what is cool. The design aspects of a fixed gear bike are very appealing to someone who naturally finds the clumsiness of pushing a chain between sprockets off putting and only uses three gears at most. Not to mention the feel of being in full control of your back wheel.
I'm a designer by the way. My bike collection is at three and a half at the moment. The half is a stalled build waiting for more funds, which will probably be provided by selling one of the others! They're all cheap cobbled together machines, except for the new one.
Is being a paramedic anything like that Scorsese film with Nicholas Cage?

Not sure I like his ride, however.

Curated by Ben Wilson, who made a nice customised Honda Zoomer for Stussy.

Yeah the geometry is all wrong... the way that a rolls into the c is a safety hazard for any designer attempting to ride it.
