Yeah, I think this is because of the internet. The hipster village of cities all over the world kind or merge virtually into one enormous suburb - So you have Portland, Austin, The Lower East Side, Shoreditch, East Berlin, etc all kind of squished together in one big soup of plaid shirts and skinny fit jeans that don't fit your bum. And any minute changes to the look are instantly reproduced in all other hipster locales. It's quite an interesting phenomenon to be honest. I sometimes wonder if the internet has caused fashion and alternative culture to hit a kind of 'singularity' where all permutations coexist simulataneously, and the blending of these result in something completely undifferentiated.
FTFY. No more depressing than completely blithe, entitled, idiotic guys guys getting to be investment bankers because their dad owns a yacht, I suppose, but it is annoying.
By "the lower east side" you mean Bushwick.
Also the reason why the hipster look has not really changed is the same as why the punk look will never change, its a self serving subset of society that highly ridicules any people who deviate from the scenes norms. Sure shutter shards have given way to wayfarers and mow halks have partial give way to short dreads (with developments in Chill Wave and Crust/ Grind Core respectively).
Wander around the more fashionable places of New York (and to a lesser extent London) and you will see verry few people doing the plaid shirt, skiny jeans thing. At least in NYC your way more likely to see leather jackets, dropped crotch, jewelry and drape on the men.

is it possible for a Sekonic L758c to lose calibration?
I was using it as a flash meeter yesterday for a test with digital kit and it was off by a lot, like up to 30stops. It was working fine on set last week, lived in a bag for a while, all the settings are the same and I'm triggering it with Pocket Wizards
It is more then mildly annoying.

I need an NY tip - trying to sort out a trip there in August - any reccomend anywhere to stay in the boroughs that's easy to get into manhattan from - I know along a PATH route but all the fucking hotel maps dont show where t get the train from.
Just trying to find a cheaper option and this may be it...
Stay in manhattan you'll save money in cab/ train fare.
Think about it this way: if you know whats up you will never leave a verry small part of manhattan, which is mostly walkable so its worth it to spend the extra on where you sleep to avoid spending it on how you get there.

Back in my day, when I got home I'd have to start charging my radio right away - and change the battery before bed so you'd have a spare - if you wanted to be able to get jobs in the morning.
Kids. shakes head
It was the same when I was on circut, charge radio as soon as I got home, swap for spare battery right before bed, bring both and hope I make it through the day.
Shit was heavy too.
my friend is trying to center the header on her home page, she put < div align= center > and
< /div align=center > with out the spaces and it didn't center any thing. She pasted the previous code back in and the fonts colors and alignment are all wrong I don't know what is wrong as the code is exactly the same as before she messed with it as she just copied it, made changes, they didn't work and posted the original....
I can show the code to people via pm if they need to see it, any help would be wonderful.
No, you, subway rider extraordinaire, fail at life. PDX is one of the most awesome places i've been in the states, it's so refreshing to be in an American city that isn't part of the gas-guzzling culture, the city promotes and encourages small businesses and its rad to not be bombarded with Starbucks etc. Everyone bikes! You are a fool.
NYC is still ok in my books though.
Took cars to and from work today ;)
Portland is where people go when they are too pretentious to exist in the real world. Its fine to visit and riding bikes is kinda fun but its not the 90's any more. No one cares about saving the world.
Also NYC is more eco freindly per person then any city in North America. You just don't see as many dread locks.

Damn this thread jumped up a notch lately.
Mondaine, IWC, Junghans, cuff etiquette...
Exception being the 'jewellery' CC posted.
That horse hair bracelet is straight dope and Black Sheep And Prodigal Sons did like every important show in Feburary. And horse hair jewelry is totally a thing.
And that Las long horn skull Is a fucking 2 inch long oxidized bronze long horn skull. That shit is off the hook.
I do however wish BiJules stuff was a bit more masculine but its fine in the dark silver and I wanted to support a friend. I think I'm going to wear it stacked with my Vera Meat 3 finger knuckle duster in brighter silver. and maybe on the same hand as the horse hair cuff.
Chris, it took me at least 5 years in NYC before I felt like I truly knew it and could utilize it and after 20 there years it will always be my home and I love it like no other place.
It's a bit strong to judge Brooklyn on what sounds like a Williamsburg experience on the whole. Brooklyn is huge, in fact it used to be the 3rd largest city in the US at one point. Have you spent any actual quality time in Red Hook, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Flatbush and on and on? I think Brooklyn is one of the friendliest, greenest, welcoming places I have ever had the pleasure of living.
I will definitely agree on the Williamsburg thing, It's turned into a hipster monster and it's a shame really. I lived there for 4 years back in the 90's and it was an awesome place back then, now it's just Shorditch x 10. But then, it still has some amazing things, Amazing record stores, venues, restauraunts, bars etc. Stop hanging out on Bedford go to Bushwick. There is so much good tucked in between the ironic hipster crowd.
So anyway, Don't tell people not to go to Brooklyn on what seems like a tiny amount of experience you have had in a city that takes a lifetime to discover. Everybody that moves there struggles for a while to figure out how they fit in to it all, I know the frustration well.
Anyway, Brooklyn is the best! and if anyone wants to know where to go and what to do just ask me and I'll send you on an adventure!
There are amazing parts of Brooklyn for sure, I have alot of friends who live in Ft Grene/ Clinton Hill and if I had a kid, or was a reclusive writer I would totally live there. If I had a motorcycle and didn't party (and could get clients and talent out there) I would live and work in Red Hook hands down.
FT tildon is one of the best beaches in the city limits, and camping at floyd bennet field last year was crazy.
There is a lot of beauty in Brooklyn but I didn't move to NYC beacuse I want to see trees all the time or have a big house.
I love living in the city because I can go have an all day adventure in BK, get home around 10:30, shower, eat, and be at the best parties in the city right as they are jumping off and stumble home around 5am.
Best city in the world.
I was given one of these in all white by Swatch, I've found myself wearing it quite a bit, I scored another one in all black at the Gents collection launch party, which hardly gets worn except stacked with the white one.
2 swatches, SO baller.
