Ratboy how do you work out the number of skid patches as im planning to have a 54 19 or 20?
If you express the ratio of teeth on your chainring and cog as a fraction and then cancel down, then the numerator gives you the number of skid patches, as this is the number of positions the back wheel can be in while you've got the pedals locked. For example;
16/48 = 1/3 so there is one patch
17/48 doesn't cancel down so there are 1719/54 doesn't cancel down so there are 19
20/54 = 10/27 which gives you 10 -

Endura. Here they are for 17.59
And if your shoes get wet, stuff screwed up balls of newspaper in them as soon as you get home. Leave 'em for a few hours and the paper draws all the water out of the shoe.

And here's the problem. No sooner do we start an SW thread, than a load of SE-ers flock in and start organising a pi$$ up.
I only ever see the mystery Touche rider when I am walking to the station. The fact that I am walking to the station means that I am hungover, having left my bike in the shed at work and gone to the pub the night before. He Touches past me and his Touche says "I'm fixing-it all the way to work now, and you've got to stand on a train with a headache surrounded by ugly people"

Ratboy Hi to all you bike lovers, i live in south west london and see very few other ss/fixed riders just wondering iftheres any out there
There's plenty on here; Mr Smith & RPM in Tooting, Fatbloke & Fatboyralph are rotundly residing in Wimbledon Park, I'm in Southfields along with the mystery Touche rider. SW also has one of the best fixed shops - Brixton cycles.
RPM will be dropping by soon to chuck some abuse ;-)

fatbloke
fatboyralph rarely see fixed gear riders down my neck of the woods, so that's got to be worth a mention. are we SWners not trendy?!?!
I'm at the top of Wimbledon Park Road and am as cool as $hit.
SWLFGSS, anyone?
I'm near Wimbledon Park Road too (Southfields Grid) and I'm cooler than $hit.
Are you the guy on the Pearson Touche who rides down Revelstoke Road?

skoota i heard a funny story how clarkson introduced himself to kate moss at a party a few years ago with the line: "I'm jeremy clarkson i do top gear" To which she replied " I'm sorry i don't take drugs." much laughter ensued clarkson stumped... and then she obviously went to the bog and had a line of gak the size of one of clarkys eyebrows.
Clarkson's version of that story is that it was Goldie, who was sat next to KM you asked "Are you trying to sell her drugs".

tome I don't get it. Are condor bikes especially heavy, should i look at getting an off the shelf bike? I was originally thinking of getting a lemand fillmore but thought a bike built to spec would be better
A pista will be a chunk better than a filmore as you suspect. Chances are that a fimore will come as a complete bike. If you want to upgrade, you have to buy new parts - which means you are purchasing the lower spec bits that you don't want. On a Condor (or other built-to-spec bike) you pay the difference, so your overall spend is proportionally less.
This thread has been a bit taken over with people teasing each other (for which I am partly responsible!) - just ignore them (us). A pista is a great bike, and even the detractors know this.

Oh, and there's loads of middle class people in Tooting as well.
