i saw him the tour of britain a few years ago as a stagiare for T-Mobile.
scarily quick. and about 19 years old. won the points jersey.

after last year's scheldepris it was like, fuck, this guy's going to be huge. then the two giro wins. he has the capacity to become big outside of the sport, sort of like boardman after the barcelona olympics. and what he says tends to be the same 'right now i'm the quickest in the peloton' - which he pretty much is.

ok, he's not innocent afterall, i can't edit out that word on the title dammit...
can i just say again, i want to focus on the unjust treatment.
just refrain from posting if u're not trying to help people, don't add insult to injury, and let it sink if no one cares to help.
essentially, thee are those of who say, no take them on, go through the proper paths, don't let him get away with this, involve the law, stop it happening to others. it's the noble path.
and there are those of us who say, forget it, walk away, it's going to be an incredibly drawn-out process, no fun at all, lots of sleep lost, lots more dealings with the police, who will obfuscate and obstruct and cause problems at every step. take the fine and don't put yourself in that position again.
having had a few shitty dealings with the police, as a victim of crime, my advice to your french friend is to walk away and put this one down to experience. and don't ride off from the police at high speed leadign to such unjust treatment.
i'm not condoning it, i just don't think he's really got a leg to stand on.
