Yeah as long as they are for the same speed (or the shifter > mech). So a nine speed ergo can use a shimano/campag/any ones 9 or ten speed mechs.

How long ago was that? I have a pair of Salomon boots, that are goretex lined which I took for tramping in NZ, and they we're ace.

I have also had a pair of Salomon gore tex lined boots for 12-15 years, I haven't got wet feet once.
