Yea Brixton are great friendly folk and have always honored the LCC discount on everything I've bought (and a few extra discounts for loyalty like free nuts, spacers etc). They will order just about anything you need and find a suppier if they don't have one already. They also lend tools and do a stop in repair service for the first hour every morning.

I've just taken my drop brakes off to use my bike at Herne Hill. However I want to get a front calliper brake lever to fit near the stem for the way there and back (tried without any on Saturday and was immediately cut up by a dickhead who didn't know how wide his van was). So has anyone invented the quick release brake lever or do I need to fiddle with allen keys?? Suggestions for a suitable lever welcome?

I found cycling in a pack a bit unnerving. You need to be very aware who’s on either side of you. I thought I was from the road and cycling in groups of 2-6 but I felt a bit out of my dept with 20-30 people surrounding me in the middle of a group all trying to find the right position. Within the pack there seems to be a mix of people who are really vocal on where they are and those who just say 'stay' when passing and use occasional hand signals to let the rider behind know what’s going on ahead.
The banks of the track where fine and gripy, I was a bit nervous I might slip.
The instructors where great at showing the ropes and explaining the types and method for the races. One took me up on the pack when I had dropped off and gave me some tips on not causing a crash (always useful) and another answered all my newbie questions without making me feel like a plonker. There where about 4-5 instructors or at least veterans joining in and giving advice. It was a very inclusive fun way to try race training.
Don't know about the fuji's but quite a few people where riding them from the other shed.

I went yesterday for the first time and it was great fun. I got stuck with a really crap loan bike and will be ditching the brakes on my Condor for Saturdays 10.30 session. The loan bike had loose cranks, the heaviest wheels ever and perished like 30cc tires that looked like they'd come off a 60s pashley canal track crawler lol! I'd advise turning up really early if you’re going to borrow a bike.

I pay to have the lobby group working in London on my behalf. I don't think TFL would be so active in pushing cycling and creating more cycling access in greenways like Highbury Fields and the canal paths if LCC had not been an active vocal thorn in their backsides. The discount is a bonus as is the magazine.

I feel similarly about phil wood, level and a few other hubs people talk about frequently.
Sure they look nice in an overbuilt fashion way, but when a rear Phil costs £130 and a pair of workhorse Surlys cost £107 (or if you want race suitable miche f&R for less than £50 or F&R Dura Ace for £125), what’s the point in spending £200+ for essentially the same thing but with a bit of polishing. Especially on a commuter bike! -
If you use pitclock on the front instead of a lock thieves can still nick your fork, bars, wheel and brake/s as it’s not locked to anything! Then it’s just a matter of breaking the pitlock at their leisure once away from the scene.
It’s more difficult to get a fork out of a frame which is tethered to the wheel/frame with a lock and probably not worth going for the handlebars and levers alone.
£35 on a second d-lock is a bit rich IMHO if your first lock is good enough lock to make an opportunist thief think before going for the frame. The Abus Sinus is £20ish.

I've not been to a track meet before and have a few questions I hope someone can help with.
1/If the first event starts at 11am what time will the Kierin, event 13, likely start?
2/ Is event 18 the last event or will there be finals beyond the listed ones in the program?
3/ As a fan of the the Kierin and pursuit which of the not so clearly named events should I keep an eye out for eg what is a CATFORD CC DEVIL, GOLDEN WHEEL 20K SCRATCH etc
Any help grately appreciated. -
Car Jacks have a limiter where they colapse if too much stress is put on them. I tried using one on a cheap dlock my dad lost the keys to and it was useless.
