allyb: Do they have a Highly Skilled Migrant type visa in Canadia? With 10yrs in IT couldn't you wangle some kind of managment roll, senior blah blah to score points towards it. Salary-based visas? Do you earn loads? That kinda thing..
OT: I hate VISAs. Even more than that I hate filling out those stupid forms at the airport every time I leave England coz I'm a skip. I hate the fact that the line for the non-EU and non-UK passports takes 30-40min to move through. I hate traffic lights.

velocity boy 40 miles isn't much at all. Fixed all the way.
It's alright for you custom-frame-boy ;-)
Actually, I have an idea.. seatpost mounted bottle cages ala triathletes. That would solve the hydration issue. Now all I need is a new spine..For those with track bikes, without camelbaks, who like H20:

Oxford St. is fscked - why I see so many couriers riding down there I don't know. They're never going fast though so maybe it's a cafe run?
Suburbs also fcked - something about 3x more likely to get hit/killed in the suburbs? People are looking for cars, drivers are looking for cars, the road is for cars. You don't count in the 'burbs. You are invisible.
The quicker you realise you are invisible to everyone the less likely you will be taken down. That's why I have little qualms about wearing all black - drivers/peds wouldn't see me if I was a flaming ball of magnesium.
I love a suncnut burntry...
