There's a really nice cafe near my place. In fact, it's the best coffee I've found in London.. and it's in the 'burbs! WTF?!

All good points, but there must be places that do American style pancakes. The thing that bugs me is that when you do find iced coffee it is IMPOSSIBLE to find sugar syrup for it, so it is crunchy. I have though about opening a cafe just to address this issue.[/quote]

I used to go out with a vego and eating vego for me is fine. I tried doing the vegan thing but only lasted 1.5 weeks.

Well, speaking on a personal level, I'm here because I got sick of my job in Melbourne and wanted to travel rather than get a mortgage. Now, the travel could be a series of short and expensive trips abroad or I could just do what others have done and move somewhere in Europe and do much cheaper trips from there. Best place to move in Europe for me was here because my grandfather was English so I have a less restricted visa than most other places. I only speak English (well, Aussie) as well so moving to Germany, although cool, would be quite a bit more difficult.

English going to Oz? Well, the weather, the beaches, the cost (1:2.5 UKP:AUD) and perhaps this freakish obsession with sh1thouse television soap drama? :)

Actually, there's more English living in Australia than Australians living in England.. even with our tight immigration policies.
Also, our wine is better than most of the planets, although I hate wine.

I do agree somewhat with the food thing. It's taken me quite a while to find some nice eateries in London and I still have RUBBISH now and then (no fault of mine - just places not caring what crap they serve) but you'd get it anywhere. As for Heston being the best... snail porridge = fsck off!

On the flip side, Aussie beer is rubbish and english beer rules! Cider here rocks - we only really have strongbow to my knowledge.
Due to the sheer number of people here the variety is huge. Australia has a lot more asian influence which I really like.

Aussie junk food is better but I have english mates who argue otherwise so I guess it's what you grew up with. I miss Milo and TimTams and Natural Confectionary company lollies (that's 'sweets' not 'iced lollies').

German kebabs are better than the ones here. Belgian and Dutch chips are better than here. I really miss Flake (shark meat) as the "fish" in fish and chips. Cod?? Yuk. I happen to like bangers and mash and the ESB pie at the Fullers pub near me is tops. There's lots of cool Thai places here. Um.. I think you win some you lose some is what I'm getting at.

Looks nice, 'looks' strong, hasn't come off, isn't noisy (relative term), half-links so length is easy to tweak (i got lazy and left it too long), my chainbreaker worked on it. Cheaper chains are available.

I have one of these kits. They do the trick. It's a bugger because I have a full set of tools back home but this was a nice kit to do most stuff with.
The chain breaker managed to fit my Shadow Interlock chain - I was worried it wouldn't after Will from HubJub mentioned they kill cheaper tools.

There was a good argument on C+ in that they organise this with police support and if tonnes more people come along the numbers grow too large and they stop running these events. The issue with this is that I can't see there being too many people doing this ride. How many people who missed out want to do it? Can you enter on the day to fill entries of people that bailed??
