Yeah, much better to have a coked up, crack smoking suicide like Pantani..
I'm sorry, this year's Tour is SOOOO much better than 7 years of Lance winning and every potential leader bailing from the Tour as a drug cheat.
At least Pantani was interesting on the course, too.
This tour is good, although that's despite Evans, rather than because of. I reckon the odds are pretty decent that he'll get to Paris in yellow without having won a stage.

“We may not be the strongest team but we’re trying to be the ugliest team. We’re using our horrendous potato-shaped arsefaces as intelligently as possible and CSC still has a lot to gain. They’re only just out of a thorough beating from the ugly stick by one second and they’ve got the weight of numbers, with such mingers as Fabian Cancellara and the Schlecks"
“Yesterday I was on the road honestly thinking that my chance of finding a girlfriend that wasn't interested in my money was over. I was scared to get up and look in the mirror because I thought I’d broken my nose and to find myself all puffed-up and inbred-looking is just great. I don’t quite believe that I’m the product of an ill-advised tumble in the hay between siblings just yet. Maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and realize I'm related to Joseph Merrick. It’s a long way from being good-looking but it’s a step towards where I want to be.”
Couldn't have said it better.

* The helmet explained a lot. It was badly damaged and had received a severe impact on the left side. The front left corner of the helmet was completely crushed and there was little doubt that without the helmet Cadel would be out of the race...*The accident might have ripped the skin off his face, causing thousands of pounds worth of cosmetic improvements...

Gosh. Has this one woken up again? In the end, I got a Topeak one in the end. It's... OK. Once the bike's in, it's nice and sturdy. But it does interfere with the gear cables a bit, which means that derailleur adjustment is best done off the stand. And the clamp that holds the downtube to the stand is a little too large and too wide to be able to use the cranks.

I was thinking to split the money between an education-related charity and a health-related one. Anybody know of any effective ones? As in, a large percentage of donations goes towards the cause, rather than the overhead of running the charity itself, fundraising, etc?
As a rule of thumb - larger charities are both more efficient in terms of overhead and more effective at delivering aid than smaller ones. It may seem counterintuitive, but the 3rd sector is subject to the same economies of scale as the rest of the world.

I'm hoping to be around on the Wednesday, werk permitting.
