hippy Remind me again next year :)
I want to get a 300k/200mi out this "summer". By next year I may have even got over my hatred of mudguards and done some audaxes! ;)You don't need mudguards to do Audaxes! I did several in 2005 (inc Porkers 400) without.
It's only the BRM registered events, and the deep winter ones which use nice caffs for controls (proprietors can sometimes get upset when people wearing muddy shorts sit in their chairs...) which require mudguards.

I had a quick look at a Project Tortoise bag at the weekend. They look nice. Very nice. I hope to give one a proper going over soon. To be honest I would be amazed if the maker is seriously trying to make them for the same money as Chrome. The bag I saw was a lot nicer than a Chrome, lot more functional and had that 'hangs right' look that can be seen with Pac, Zo and Cocotte.
Looks like a proper 4th generation design.
Timbuk2? Made in China.

I have to add one proviso - after 1 years hard messengering, the stitching on Selim's O/S Deluxe started to undo.
He actually got the thing second hand.
I do rate Pac, but I also rate Baj-Jack. Just as good, if not better.
I should also add that I am mates with both Pat and Pe (old-skool messenger thing).

If the frame is straight (unlikely given the fold in the seat-stay) then you could prob ride it like that.
I probably wouldn't though.
The seat tube ding looks borderline cosmetic. In general, a dent that isn't more than a quarter of the diameter of the tube is ok, as long there isn't rippling and the tube itself is still straight.

It's a demand and supply thing. Demand for track frames is increasing. As track/fixed culture becomes more popular (partly as the result of forums like this!).
Some of my friends are making a decent living by selling nice stuff to willing customers. And I too see nothing wrong with that.
15 years ago it was pretty impossible to find any track spares in London LBSs. I am talking about c/ring bolts, chainsets, hubs, h/bars etc. Now it's possible to buy pretty much any kind of spare almost anywhere. So that's the upside.
The downside is that some unscrupulous sellers are passing off lo-pro pursuit frames that are wholly unsuitable for road riding (like our friend's saranoninoo or whatever) .
