If you're up for a challenge you could buy all the bits from blb then attempt to make it yourself? :) That'd be a lot cheaper (probably. Maybe.)

The steamroller on wiggle is a good price (i think?) Would make sense to buy it from there (if you want the steamroller) then slowly upgrade the parts.

The best way to find out is to try it. I'm 6ft/6'1" and i ride a 55cm frame, but i think it's a little small. You can always compensate if its too big one way or the other with longer/shorter stems, seat position et cetera.

52-19 isn't really hardcore it's a standard gear inches (just under 74 like 46-17) it just sounds hardcore because of the big number at the front.

Those cardboard bikes have pretty poor geometry..

Hippy: depends on the age of the armstrong. If it's post-raleigh takeover (60's/70's) then yeah its just an entry level raleigh-by-another-name, but if it was made before raleigh bought them out then its potentially a hand-built bike.

PS i have a pink brake lever if you want one :) It's even a BMX one so you'll look doubly hip and cool.

In my college there's a trolley in one of the hallways chained to a pipe with a reasonably expensive bike lock. I like to think that someone rides it in to college everyday...

the miche bb feels smooth but the cups aren't very tight. i could have put some kind of thread lock in there but then it can lead to problems removing the bb at a later date, and it's a new condor frame so didn't want to take any chances. hopefully the campag one will last a lot longer.

1 hour later my mate who works for cycling weekly (based in croydon) picks it up and delivers it to my door (tootin) on his lunchtime review ride. and with a weighty discount on the BB too :-)

anyone know which shop (the closer to sw the better) would stock camag bb's? brixton only have 115 which will be too long.

edit: all sorted gb cycles in croydon have one (cheaper than evans too)

if i lived near dolan i would have tony bell decals made up for my bike and wave at him as i ride past.

i have probably only done only 2500 miles on the miche, at the moment it's £20 for a miche from condor (i need the bike on sunday so can't order one for £12.99 from parkers)
the campag chorus one £32 which i don't mind as long as it lasts. just about to get on the phone and find one.
