I would've thought it an obvious question to ask someone if they're spending so much money on a racing track bike....
I'm amazed.....at how much you can deduce from my attitude from only seven words.
This is a bike forum so I'm not going to go into my opinions of men who feel the need to by Porsches or Ferraris, but from what I can gather my views are widely held by others!
If you've got that kind of budget, why don't you ask Ernesto to build you a bike that looks exactly the same but has geometry, weave patterns, clearances, flex, fork rake angle etc suitable for going up and down kerbs and in and out of potholes instead of doing 40mph on smooth tracks.....that's a serious suggestion by the way.....alternatively buy a Pinarello track frame, because according to visiting Italians at Good Friday, Pinarello full-carbon track frames are essentially standard road frames with track-ends!
"Not everyone who buys such a guitar imagines that they'll be playing like hendrix, some simply appreciate and love the skill of the person who created the guitar, the workmanship that went into it, and the quality and sound of it"
I wonder where the craftsmen who build Colnago c50 pistas think their machines that they put so much love into are going? pro track riders? aspiring sponsored junior track racers? enthusiastic retired veteran track racers? pub runners?......does it bother them I wonder?.....probably not....it's what pays their wages I guess.
I wonder if production Colnago stuff is even the same quality as what they furnish the pros with...their brand is so strong they could quite easily mass produce lookalike pop-outs with the same decals....unless you've got legs like Chris Hoy would you notice?

Tommo you are a nutcase! Reminds me of when i stupidly decided to take a link out of my chain to improve chain tension, leaving my back wheel teetering on the edge of the dropouts. Couple that to a 42-15 gear ratio and under-tightened bolt..... One second i was stomping on the pedals to set off over blackfriars roundabout, the next i was lying on my back watching my rear wheel bounce dangerously towards the thames while the rest of my bike ran over my foot. Good ole biking inexperience. And that's on a single-speed as well! hah god help me if i ever go fixed...

lpg No mr smith that's what i mean, if u lose the pitlock key you have to call pitlock, and since they are the only supplier they can charge whatever they want. If you lose one of those star-shaped allen keys (pic above), then you just need to go to any hardware shop to get it, and it'll be cheaper. Dya get me?
But, as far as i kno, only phil wood have bolts on their hubs, most of you guys have a nut? In that case i'm not sure what you could do but perhaps just don't get a 6-sided 15mm nut, maybe an 8-sided or a 3 sided? Then just buy the special spanner along with it ...
I see. I wonder if they will fit goldtec hubs? (those german things)

I've got a few guys together to do the mechanical audit...and my club is VCL and like I said they are pretty good at getting funding....the bikes have been there for as long as I can remember....ownership is not clear but VCL are the current guardians of HH and have, as such inherited guardianship of these bikes, so let's see if that route works.....if someone wants to bung wads of cash at it then let's talk! it must be understood that these bikes are already ancient (and rare)....we should be able to save them so that they can continue to be used for some years...but they're never gonna be "like new".

I've been down to HH to check up on the polo bikes, right now I don't think we'll be able to get enough bikes operational to get a game going....I'm gonna make a list of what needs doing to them and take it from there....already have a couple of volunteers to help out...but might need some funding to save these historical machines....mallets were suffering from damp...but I've put them somewhere drier....will let you lot know.

I can't work out if you ar are calling me a fuckenger, somebody else a fuckenger, somebody at a boring party a fuckenger or some random scrote with a 15mm spanner a fuckenger.
whichever it is you still have your wheel, you still have your front teeth(the loose wheel didn't fall out of your dropouts).hopefully you will feel better about about this in the morning.

5h46 according to my computer...don't know official time....second hardest ride of my life...the cold triple espresso with five sugars which I had in a mini bottle in my pocket and gulped down with 30 to go helped though.......my front mech came loosish and was rubbing on the big ring....I couldn't work out what the noise was, so just ignored it....worked it out when I got home....feeling pretty rough now........I think I enjoyed it!
