Momentum Saturday is off the cards for me as it's my girlfriend's birthday, but I hope to do a few Saturday sessions over the summer. All very hangover dependent though - that's what stopped me all last year!
That's what laid waste to my enthusiasm to become a road racer. I missed so many training sessions simply because of preceding late nights out.
I know in advance I'm not going back to racing, including the track. I just want to try it :)

I think all forms of bicycle enthusiasm is dominated by men.
Look at road racing, mountain biking, track racing, etc.
I can name 5 women in my cycling club of 280+. On this forum there are two women, both lurking.
I don't really care one way or the other about how it breaks down, but I do find it extremely vulgar on places like bikeforums when a girl speaks and the thread derails into gibberish as a lot of the boys cream their shants and start drooling.

I picked up one of these at Condor a while ago:

Superb, it is.
http://www.hubjub.co.uk/ do them too.
£20 isn't cheap, but you won't need another for a long while.

Phil Wood High Flange front and rear hubs
$322 (£160) in the USA (inc postage to the USA) or £220 in the UK (not inc postage). We pay too much for everything.
Thankfully my wife is from Chicago so she's bringing some bike bits back with her.
Perhaps this is why conversions are the thing here? The budgets haven't changed but what you can do with the same money is wildly different.

It's fixed, it's a long way, I doubt anyone will be going fast, and with the weather as it is frequent stops for water and food would be advisable.
I don't think they're racing, more just going out for a long day. Bear in mind that quite a few of us have done 40 miles in a day just going to a pub on the other side of London and back (and getting very tipsy whilst there).
It's also a bank holiday weekend, so you have a day to recover.

OK, so that was a bit of a mouthful.

First thing, we are planning a ride from London to Brighton. It could possibly be in 2-3 weeks time, on a Sunday. We will confirm the date as soon as. Most of the rider's we mention on here will be going... We will start early from central London, ride to Brighton, spend some time by the sea, then catch the train back (or depending on how we feel, ride back)... More details to follow...
Sunday 6th is the the date set for the fixedgearlondon ride from London to Brighton.
All comer's welcome, it will start early (9am) from central.
So... who wants to ride fixed from London to Brighton on Sunday 6th May?
