The Silca is an awesome pump. Topeak Masterblaster does about as good a job for £25 though and might play nicely with your frame.

Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use a Hope Head Doctor in a carbon steerer with an alloy sleeve in it (ie one that would usually take a star nut rather than a compression plug)?

A couple of recent bone-rattling expeditions in the Mendips has underlined that I need to go wider than 25mm on my old rim brake bikes, so I'm after a pair or two of nice 'summer' tyres in OK condition but nearer the affordable end of the spectrum. Black or tanwall is fine and they don't have to be tubeless. I am in Bristol.

These aren’t that expensive new but I always like to see if I can liberate one from a parts bin first. Not too bothered on what level of group it comes from so long as it’s got a fair bit of life left (though a cheap Record Ti would be nice!).

May not be your issue but proper internal cam QR skewers stopped my wheels rubbing.

On the basis that early-March is basically summer I put some fast wheels and tyres on this today. It’s been plodding along on wire-beaded 23s all winter but it’s absolutely flying now.

£50 Mercian frame in Weston Super Mare. Seat pin will certainly be stuck but looks a nice frame. Same seller has a Rory O’Brien audaxy-looking complete bike for £60.

I’m still after one of these seemingly impossible to find pumps so giving this thread its one and only bump. A modern Silca Impero might cost more than I want to spend but I’m interested to hear if anyone has one of those available instead.
