Well Shantung is a particular way of weaving silk to get that texture and never going to be cheap. Even the ones on Etsy are £60+

just be aware of the thermal changes in that area and sealing properly to avoid any interstitial condensation. I used my approach shoes on my Brompton flat pedals because they were stiff, ride in proper shoes Time spd/Look all other times so wanted a stiff shoe to pedal not a trainer.
