I’m sure you can get plenty more bells and whistles with others (Torpedo for example, where I believe you can load IR onboard directly) but it does do the job well as far as I’m concerned. Resistance for each input is within tolerance and the resistors themselves will work at 100w, so it’ll do the job, might be some will end up having a better signal out perhaps?
I remember watching a demo of this alongside a couple more expensive options and while there were differences they weren’t a world away, so for the sale of £30 I took the plunge on a second hand one. Might well end up looking for a higher end second hand option and see which one to keep eventually since I’ve been using it nigh on daily since buying it.
The option that @rodan mentions of having an IR loader makes a lot of sense if recording in pretty big projects as you can definitely lose the latency, though for just playing I find having Logic on an empty project and buffer size at minimum or Low Latency Mode on does the trick for me.

Should also say, if you have a nice amp you might want to consider this gadget: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pa_100_power_attenuator.htm
Allows you to play without a speaker and go straight into the soundcard. Then you can just apply a cab IR and you're away. Keeps the feel and tone of a tube amp with none of the volume hassle, it's made me play my guitar so much more since I've had it!

Encouraging to hear, I've been sitting on swapping my Casino's pickups for some time now, need to finally bite the bullet. Will be making the loom myself as that's the only part of the process I don't dread....!
@dsalmon I'd really recommend Proteus and NAM (Neural Amp Modeller) for in-the-box amp alternatives - they're both freeware and some of the models you can download sound and react great! Consensus seems that the well made ones easily compare to the much raved about Kemper and the likes, so to think it's all free it's pretty bonkers...!

Just in case anyone might be interested, I have one spare ticket to Blur at Wembley this Sunday .
Really looking forward to it!

Finding myself with a spare ticket for Blur at Wembley this coming Sunday, support from Paul Weller.
It’s pitch ticket (these are now sold out) and would like to recoup as much of the £95 spent on it as possible.
The ticket can be transferred via the Ticketmaster app so it will appear directly on your phone.
Should be a great day out!

Agreed. All well and good watching a slo mo but fact is, Cav by that point was weaving around horribly (not fully his fault of course as he’d skidded) but to expect Dainese to know what was coming is pretty mad.
Remco needs to dust himself off and crack on more and whinge and feel the need to verbalise all of his on-the-spot thought a whole lot less.

We use iPad+Neewer prompter regularly and works well. It can be awkward standing off to the side and following the mirrored text to set the pace (most talent didn't want to operate the remote themselves, some do though) so I can agree that's the main drawback.
That said, if you have a spare 7" monitor for example that might work well hooked to a laptop. Some prompter apps can daisy chain an iPhone and iPad I think, but I haven't tested those yet. I've done some tests with some of the paid-for apps (prices tento to hover around £15) which scroll automatically with speech recognition and they seemed very good and something I'll delve deeper into. Keep in mind you'll want an actual audio feed into the iPad for those to work well, so might not be an option unless you use an external monitor which can provide an extra headphone out.
We also have a Teleprompter pad (same thing, different brand) but the remote it comes with is much inferior to the Neewer's, which also comes with a rigid case for storing and transporting.

I'm not adverse to a little bit of light servicing/maintenance/repair should it need it.
Sounds like a perfect deal then! And you'll be able to sell it on for the same amount if you decide it isn't for you.Unless the owner can vouch for having it descaled/serviced fairly recently I'd probably consider take it at least partly apart first thing to check limescale and make sure it's all good - this will also introduce you to what the inner workings are like for any future fettling that might be needed.

Updated my Fuji to do some video work about a year or so ago and ended up going for the X-T3 - offers all of the video features I wanted (aside from IBIS, which I wasn't too sure I'd need, though admittedly I've been using it a bunch on my work FX3!) and was significantly cheaper than an X-T4, though prices might have changed since the 5.
I've been VERY impressed with the video capabilities. Even more though, despite a lot of people saying how Fuji colour is very consistent through all models and all the hype about the earlier gen cameras (which is what I had prior to the XT3), I found the picture quality to be so much better - lots more dynamic range and even better colour. Haven't looked back and would recommend.
I remember from my research back then that the X-T30 offered a lot of similar features but was lighter on video features, mostly the lack on in camera 10bit which was a deal breaker for me but might not be for you; many people bang on about how necessary it is, I still think for many people in-camera colour is probably the way to go and definitely simplifies things.

I have the top one of those two in the photo - works well, I found it a bit annoying at first as it takes a 2 sec press to turn on rather than a quick tap (cue the tiny violins) but you just get used to it. Perhaps not the quickest in adding up weight as you add but wouldn't call it slow either.
Only needs charging every 3 months more or less but mine doesn't let me know it's low on batteries until it's too late. It's USB-C though, so a two minutes charge gives you enough to do whatever you were going to do before charging it properly.

Very harsh. I wouldn't expect a team like this Palace to be consistently as good as they were last year and could have seen them having another good run in the next season the way we saw Vieira had them play.
Makes Sunday's game vs the arse interesting though, one team that should want to prove itself after costing the manager his job and another needing to come back from a mid-week setback that involved extra times and pens and two injuries...

Looks super interesting, and the 64s despite being lower power etc could be a very good fit for my setup since I don't have a lot of counter space and quite honestly wouldn't spend more than the £250 it's going for now for a grinder given my 1zpresso does work very well... Then again, that would mean I'd have to pull the trigger now while it does cost that much, doesn't it? 😂
Decisions decisions....

I'd vote for an espresso machine. For that money you should be able to grab a Gaggia Classic already PID'd and throw in an ISM basket.
Once you get the setup dialled in it really isn't too much of a faff in my experience, the grinding being by far the bigger time consumer for me since I'm hand grinding. Quick pass with a distribution tool/cocktail stick, tamper and go. Frothing milk (I mostly have cappucinos myself) isn't much of a time consumer either.
I think in very little time you'll get much better results than a B2C machine and for me the little procedure (again, not a time consuming one if you have an electric grinder, really) is part of the pleasure!
-
-
You recon the difference between the 64s and 78s to make espresso would mostly be that the smaller burr would take longer or is a larger burr better suited for any other reason?
As someone without lots of counter space who only makes standard double shots of espresso (ie 14/15g) this looks really interesting and potentially a sensible way to move from my current hand grinder to an electric one... 🤔

Just recently updated from FS7 for FX3 and, aside from the menu hell which @CYOA rightly mentions as it's still an absolute, abject clusterfuck, I'm very happy so far.
Not the same camera of course, to me it came down to a convenient smaller format that suits my workflow and I liked the idea of image stabilisation to be able to pop the camera off sticks to grab a handheld shot on the go. That with the added digital stabilisation works an absolute treat, didn't think I'd appreciate it as much.
Low light performance is very good and a huge step up from the FS7 - the dual ISO is a treat, especially since for better or for worse my work revolves around filming in low light a lot of the time.
The ND on the FX6 looks brilliant and super convenient if you shoot outside regularly though, plus more physical controls mean less menu delving. I'm hoping we might be taking on an FX6 soon as well soon, having three FS7s and an FS5 (same form factor) means batteries and a few accessories are there.
Media was one of the issues I looked at, as SD V90/Type As are very expensive and actually very hard to get hold of at the moment but I circumnavigated the issue with the FX3 by pairing it with a Ninja V + SSDs . We have two Shoguns as well which would make a good pairing for the 6.
Let me know if you have any specific FX related question/doubt and I'll be happy to help best as I can!
edit: in terms of stock I'd say CVP is your best bet both for lead times and prices - do contact their sales team if you can pay on account instead of buying direct from the website as they do look after you well and they've always quoted me under the online price. No affiliation but plenty of positive experiences with them.

It's an incredible guitar! Really looking forward to seeing it restored to its full glory. Good call having it seen by a tech as being without strings for so long can make tensioning strings a bit of a trauma for a guitar that isn't used to it anymore, so will need a bit of attention no doubt and quite possibly will need some truss rod adjustment a couple of weeks down the road.
And speaking of the tech, does he come well recommended? I'm not far from Finchley and my Jazzmaster is due some TLC, including possibly a new nut, so interested to know what your experience is like in terms of service and price!

On a kind of separate note, my AC30 has been overdue a revalve and general once over since nobody’s put a hand on it for over 10 years.
Any recommendations for good amp techs within driving distance from North London? Bonus points if they don’t charge a fortune! 🤞
