Bit late on this but the Something Lovely tearooms in Puckeridge are a very good midway stop in a London - Cambridge.
In case the route was at all up for debate, I'd suggest getting out of London via Hertfordshire rather than the Lea valley. The latter is quicker but far uglier on long straight A and B roads with no great views and a fair bit of traffic. Even then, I'd avoid the B road kind of parallel to the A11 and keep to the small and slightly more meandering lanes to the east of it (via Cold Christmas, Barwick Ford, Anstey and up to Great Chishill with great views of the windmill) - some amazing lanes to be found there!
If leaving London from the east side following the route 1 and 11 from the Sustrans maps looks to potentially be a nice route too, as it follows many smaller lanes which tend to be very nice and rolling with some lovely views in that area.

Sorry very late to reply! Here it is: https://youtu.be/R4ZE4arxJwc?t=48
Found it was quite interesting as I thought of it as late enough to not have been played live much.

Likewise to be fair, I'm certainly no expert, but one thing I noticed going through some of my very early shots I took when I bought a dirt cheap Minolta SRT which had no metering etc was how the naivety and random exposure settings gave me some really nice shots which a meter would have "ruined". Haven't learned how to control and manage that supposedly out of whack leeway sadly though...!
-
I actually don't mind a little over exposure in some shots - for example technically one could say the last shot is a touch over, but it just works really well. I think that's part of the charm of analog, it handles a wide range of exposure so well, so much so that going over or under can become a tool of the trade!
@user85518 thanks for the heads up! Might pay Process Supplies a visit later today 🙂

Thanks everyone for the feedback and suggestions! Ended up ordering a Lifeline pole hanger and it works and fixes perfectly!
For future reference, the manual clearly states it does NOT need fixing in place despite what Wiggle staff might say in the item's Q&A section - would definitely recommend for stacking bikes in a rented place 👍

Just jumped from Vittoria Corsa Controls (which I really rate and have been my year round choice for two years) to Veloflex Corsa Evo and must say the ride quality is amazing, even better than the Vittorias.
Very pleased in that sense and very glad to hear they seem to give good mileage. Wasn’t too interested in going for something different to the Corsa Controls per se but with all of them going for RRP at the moment the Veloflex were a touch cheaper (~£10/20 for the pair?) and thought I’d try something lighter as a “summer tire”. So far so good 👍
-
Cheers, that wasn’t on the radar 👍
@Oddo ah that’s great to know, thanks! And that was without screwing anything, just wedging? If that’s the case I might pull the trigger on the Lifeline as it’s the cheapest option and gets good reviews

The dhb merino base layer/t shirts are great value for money compared to many. Not sure if the DHB150 Strava discount code is still active, it might give you 10/20% off the price.
I have both a 150 and a 200 weight and the difference is actually quite noticeable, the 150 obviously being lighter. They work well and don't get smelly that easily as you'd expect.

Seen some positive chat about the Topeak Dual Touch and Lifeline/Wiggle equivalent vertical stands and just wanting to make doubly sure before I pull the trigger - do they actually need screwing into place or does the floor to ceiling wedging work well enough to store two bikes?
Or what are decent alternatives to store two bikes in the space of roughly one in a rented accommodation? 🤔
Thanks a lot in advance!

I already have a (Vintage) Rat on my board and a couple of TS derivative (a Maxon and a Vox Valve Tone), that makes me want to build a Klone even more, they sound VERY good together.
Guilty of wearing the exact same footwear as my round-the-house comfy choice as well 😂
In other news, after seeing a video of the Beatles playing Nowhere Man live with killer jangly tones coming from two Casinos I've started thinking about changing PUs on my Casino once again... Any recommendations out there? Hopefully some good choices that are cheaper than Fralins/Lollars? 🤔

My brother is also a left handed person and has always played the bass the right handed way - it does seem how you learn is what decides it ultimately. Think a handful of very famous guitarists are lefties playing right handed, possibly Knopfler being one of them?
Definitely makes it easier to pick up instruments in the future, though the ultimate PITA left-playing musicians are drummers. If you've ever shared the bill with a band with a left-playing drummer you'll know what I mean 😂

Well, it turns out it was already working last night - kind of. I switched it off after some tinkering and went to bed, fired up again this morning and ta-da! And of course it would, it obviously needs a reboot after turning DHCP off 😑 So yeah, it was set but it never had a chance to pick up its new IP from the mothership because I'm a plonker I guess. I can connect to its wifi and cast to my wired Apple TV in the other room etc, so it's all talking nicely to each other.
Only weird thing is, I can see it when logged as admin on the main router and see its IP, but when I try to go to the IP to look at settings/change wifi name etc it doesn't connect, but that could be easily circumnavigated by taking it off the network and wiring in directly with the laptop I suppose, which I will try after work.
-
I can't tell you how grateful I am for your taking the time to talk me through this! While the underlying knowledge you rightly mention is only partly there, it's enough to be able to follow through these processes and am now hopeful I should be able to take it from here. Thank you ever so much and if there's any way I can remotely buy you a holiday beer please do message me as I'd be more than happy to!
-
Cheers! That partly works - partly because if I connect to the second router with an ethernet cable it works just fine, but the wifi doesn't connect to the internet.
Also, if connected with the cable I can't access the router's setup page at its IP address, but when connected wirelessly I can and the network status shows no connection to the internet but a live link between computer and router. The port into which I connect to the main router shows a green gigabit connection.
Is this meant to make sense? Because it doesn't to me! 😬

I use:
230g 00 flour
45g semola flour
75g starter (100% hyd.)
150g water
2g malt
8g saltI've adapted it from a recipe I found ages ago and tweaked it, may be a little lower hydration than many would go for but been getting constantly good results - you could use 160g of water to take hydration to just about 64% which would be consistent with the recipe @jb000 posted above.
What's the consensus for a decently fast/comfortable but reliable 28mm tire? Michelin Power Endurance? P Zero velo? Should I go back to Corsa Controls? Dive in on the Vittora Pave 27s for £25 on Wiggle?
Currently running Veloflex Corsa 28s (tubed) - super comfy but had a couple of punctures (admittedly over big patches of broken glass each time) but get the feeling they might not be the most resilient of tires.
I'm planing on going on a 3/4 days long weekend trip in August and thinking I might fit some slightly hardier tires for that as I'm aiming to seek some miles on crappy tiny country lanes and would be happy to cruise on the odd gravelly towpath and would rather not be fixing many punctures. Corsa Control V1 and Micheling Pro4 Endurance did that trick extremely well in the past, though Corsa Control G2.0 seemed more fragile.
I'm running tubed but feel free to tell me I'm doing it wrong and should go tubeless. I might listen. Maybe.
