I offer to the forum my Geoffrey Butler fixed wheel bike
59cms centre to top
56 cms top tube
16.5 cms head tube
I've had the bike in my possession for 30 years now, bought from my friend's kid brother who use\d it sparingly before I acquired it. During this time it has been
my club ride bike, time trial bike and latterly my summer fixed gear bike.
Resprayed by armourtex in 2014. Pretty much unused for the past few years as
I haven't been riding that much due to caring responsibilities.
Someone else should now use the bike as it should be ridden and hopefully it will give you as much pleasure as it has given me over the years.
Absolutely bang on chain line too.

It would seem that the Tories intent to abolish National Insurance will give a £46 Billion revenue loss to the treasury. Since raising taxes or cutting the old age pension have been categorically ruled out that leaves one option - restricting eligibility. In effect the Tories are planning to raise the retirement age. I've no idea what the new planned age will be 70-75?
I bet our dysfunctional billionaire owned media will not raise this as a legitimate concern for folks close to retiring and who need time to assess/plan for the future. -

Much justifiable anger directed towards the Tories from contributors re the Rwanda plan. Performative cruelty directed at the most wretched and unfortunate of individuals. I often think that these people who attempt a perilous journey across the Channel after surviving lord knows what in order to arrive in Calais, well maybe they are the kind of people you might want in your country? They have qualities of hope, courage and resilience - the sort of qualities which we admired in ourselves once upon a time. Maybe these are the kind of people whose contribution we need?
As always with the Tory party - they aim low and miss! -

The whole point is to rid ourselves of the Tory party at the forthcoming election. Hopefully, they'll receive such a massive kicking that they'll no longer be the official opposition. Collectively, we all need a breathing space. We can then, as leftists, just do our best to hold Labour's feet to the fire and maybe extract something positive from them. In our 'managed democracy' through the pressure of public opinion this is all we have at our disposal.

The trope that all [plitical parties are the same is for the terminally hard of thinking. Rather, it would be far better to concentrate on how fptp limits politicians and basically just infantilises politics to little more than petulant and spiteful tribalism. We all need freeing from this no matter your politics. The sooner the better.

Yes, I accept your point above. However, by transformational change, I refer to the dissolution of the Lords and its replacement with a democratically elected body. Also. the introduction of P.R. Blair had a democratic mandate for both based on a manifesto commitment.
He refused both. The tories would have no choice but to live with the resulting change. There would have been no return to the existing status quo.
To be a socialist in England is to accept disappointment. Hence my scepticism regarding Starmer. Although, I am prepared to be suprised. -

Yes, Ian Dunt's stuff is well written and argued. I feel that we've had rhe shit kicked out of us for 14 long years. We now settle for anyone who appears to be vaguely competent and serious. Sadly, I fell that Starmer will be a Blairalike and that everything he can do will be undone by the Tories. The tragedy of Blair's time in power was that no other left of centre party in any advanced economy had 13 years of continuous power in order to transform our society forever. What a wasted opportunity!
