One fine Raleigh tandem for sale!
Bought on a whim last summer for a bit of gentle cruising around London because tandems are objectively hilarious, and indeed much fun was had. Unfortunately an impending house move and subsequent lack of space means it needs to go. In fairness we’ve only used it a handful of times - housemate and I loved it for pub trips, but I couldn’t really get my other half keen which was the hope.
After I bought it I replaced the driver’s seatpost and stoker’s stem set up so it was more adjustable – previous version was a bit of a bodge. Also new brake pads and shoes on the main brakes, and had to fit a drop bolt to the front brake as it was set up very poorly. It's running a 2x5 set up (Sachs Huret groupset) which all works well.
Comes with the bags you can see in the pics.
Sizing wise I’m (driver) 6ft2 and the stoker about 5ft6. Measures up as roughly a 56/52Collection SW London (Balham/Tooting) or can meet central somewhere if easier. I can fit it in the car and deliver for a negotiated rate but I would really rather avoid that.
I’d like to get back what I paid for it - £.
Now £SOLD -
Hi all,
Been a while since I was last on here but am again in need of some advice.
Was out on a spin last week and managed to clatter a pothole hard enough to dent my rear rim and crack my carbon seatpost. Insurance covers accidental damage so am now in conversation with them to get it sorted.
I had my bike insured for £1,200 – what it was worth when I bought it. However, apparently, I should have insured for brand new replacement value (c.£1,950), so have been underinsured. That’s probably on me for not realising when I insured it.
They’re now saying that this means they’ll only pay out that proportion (c.62%) for replacement of the damaged components. So rather than c.£575 for new wheelset and seatpost, it’ll only be c.£356 (62% of it).
I understand their viewpoint, but think it’s not fair if I’ve been paying premiums that essentially cover £1200 worth of damage, for them to turn around and not cover damage to less than that insured amount? I would have thought the components should be covered in full up to the insured value.Thoughts?
Do I have a leg to stand on? Suck it up and take the smaller payout, or argue my case a bit? -

I've gone for the SON for almost purely aesthetic reasons, I think it looks rather swish ahah.
I also won't be running 'guards, and I want to avoid the seatpost or seattube mounted option for the sake of seatpacks and paintwork respectively.
I'm going to make up a mount to fit to this nubbin circled (or possibly the rack mounts). (Bike is a Bombtrack Hook EXT.) I haven't got the bike yet (ETA two weeks whoo!), so shall attempt fabricating once I do.Notes re Di2 strips, I have heard that about the adhesive. Shame as I think it would be quite subtle and also protect the wire from framepacks/bike racks etc.
That sounds very pleasing indeed! However I can say with absolute certainty I will not be having braze-ons added to my brand new frame haha. Maybe once it's out of warranty...

I asked almost this exact question two pages ago. Based on feedback I've bought an IQ-X (mainly because it allows freedom to mount either way up), and a SON rear rack-mounted light.
Having read back a bit, looks like Di2 stick-on cable guides might be one of the more aesthetically pleasing ways of running a light from crown-mounted front light to seatstay-bridge-mounted rear light.
Any other methods I should consider before I add it to the ever-accumulating, wallet-scaring shopping list? -

Fantastic work chaps this is why I come here. I hadn't stumbled across either of those.
Also like the look of the rack-mounted SON rear light as it looks v smart. Would have to create a bracket for it though as I don't envisage ever having a rear rack.
Of course it's not that I have a crippling weakness for style over substance, I promise.

Something to consider is whether it's worth doing a charging setup, or
if a battery powerbank would do the trick. That's what I opted for and
should be fine for shorter trips.Yeah realistically this year it's going to be weekend/long weekend trips away, so a powerbank is certainly a viable option for the time being (especially given I already have several!).
Would be nice to future-proof the system though if you get me.Big fan of the IQ-X
This gets a good write-up and an impressive light field (I like how they show real photos of this on the site)

Aha, okay thanks - that was I was clumsily getting at - the compatibility. I had somewhat assumed the rear lights are nice simple gizmo's that just plug into the front and would be broadly cross-compatible.
And all the cabling looks fairly straightforward to do yourself - any particular tips much appreciated -
Good afternoon denizens of the dynamo thread!
I have spent hours trawling through this dynamo thread (slow day at work) and it's safe to say I'm overwhelmed.
My new bike should be arriving at the start of June, complete with dynamo hub (SON Delux) and I need to sort myself out with the lights etc.
My inclination is to go for the Edelux front light, but my sense is that the rear doesn't matter too much? I'd like to be able to fit a usb charger as well - how easily is this done, and who has experience with some good ones?
TIA -
I know right?! No people biting my hand off just yet...
