any help on this:
I'm trying to change my seatpost on my Raleigh technium obsession (1990) and unfortunately I'm not quite sure the size of it. It seems that it's a 27mm but some other forums say It could be 26.8mm.
No shop around me has a 27mm so I can't try. I want to double check before ordering online.

Hi guys!
Some nice members from the CycleHat forum recommended me to come over here for my special quest. :)
I went thru LFGSS and I'm impressed on how much this forum is a goldmine!I used to ride a fixed vintage B. Carré for a couple of years in Paris but decided to sell it for different reasons. I'm not an expert on bikes but I'm always happy to learn.
Right now, I want to get a new a bike asap to commute (Paris & short suburbs).
I feel like my taste in bikes has changed and I'm now looking for a single speed bike, something less vintage than the B. Carré / Peugeot style. My priorities is a light weight / solid / discret look (avoiding the thiefs) / fast enough but with a possibility to ride chill (def get a right handlebar to have a more straight posture). It's gonna be my daily bike.
I was checking the Retro mountain bikes topic and It almost put me the idea to transform on into a single speed, is it possible?
love this Rockhopper for example
So here is my idea, I want to start but I don't know where? Should I buy a vintage one on craiglist and slowly transform it? Should I buy something new?
my budget is around 500/600 euros. I can go higher if I get a big crush. (as we say in French "Quand on aime, on ne compte pas" ;) )
Any tips, direction I should go ?
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to learn.
Have a good day -
that's exactly my thought, the guy told me he bought the frame and build a single speed.
Rarely saw a GT bike with this shape.
