Ha! I did speak to Winston about those and he was less than keen on the two bigger ones. Painting the Crust feels in a different league to those. The Strael would do the biggest of them (proper through axle dropouts) and has snazzy dynamo light routing.
Your first comment about the Strael is what really piques my interest, as I am after a steel road bike. I've got road plus/all road/gravel covered with the Crust.

Would anyone care to persuade me that I shouldn't try and sell my Midnight Special (a few months after deciding not to and now running it in full road mode - 700 x 32) to help find the purchase of a Strael?
I've got a hankering for something more purely road/endurance and steel and feel like a Strael would scratch that itch perfectly.

Apologies if this isn't the right place for this, but couldn't see anywhere more relevant.
While looking after the wee one at a silly hour of the morning I read this: https://bikepacking.com/bikes/surly-cross-check-dream-commuter/
And I have been pondering whether some of the bits he had done to his Cross Check could be done to my Midnight Special.
Specifically, I'd love to remove the down tube bosses and put in internal rear brake hose routing. But the biggest thing would be to fit a proper through axle dropout instead of Surly's bodge.
So, does anyone know if that would be possible, and if so, who/where would you recommend?
Thanks!

@ghostface so they do! Sorry about that.
@Thrasher any chance you've got the GPX for that? Can't seem to find it and sounds like a good ride.

Dredging this up.
These guys seem to be at it again.
Bought a light from them - RN1500, and the mount broke in the first five minutes of the first ride out with it.
They didn't respond to my contact form email and are now ignoring my messages on Instagram after insisting I send the light back to them.
I've asked for a replacement mount and even offered to buy one, but a. they first off insisted that I send the whole light back, which seems mad for a small replaceable part and b. actually said they weren't even sure if they had a replacement mount, which seems absolutely mental to me.
So, bought with a debit card via PayPal. Anyone know what the best options are? Or maybe know of a person that works there/a contact number I can actually talk to a human at?

The RCC West Country Escape does almost all of that: https://www.komoot.com/collection/1365436/-rcc-escape-west-country
Just have to get to Oxford.
Alternatively, MA3K has a route I collected here: https://www.komoot.com/collection/1935035/-ma3k-rides

@ElGonzo I am, and that's very kind of you. Almost exactly the right size too. I'd be a 56R by the looks of things. I've no idea when I'd be able to take you up on it, so I think your recommendation will have to do, thank you.
@JuanSock dangerous game that!
