From the look of the position of the rear wheel, it's completely unnecessary as well.
it's based on moser's hour record bike... built to take a back wheel bigger than 700c - less rolling resistance.
obviously the hour record bike was fixed, but the frame shape's identical
still looks over-exagerated, but he beat the hour record on a similar frame, so it must have an aerodynamic purpose...

hey anders...
we did it in september, from brighton. took a long day after getting off the ferry. about 115 miles if you make it straight.
there's a thread on it, and pm kelvin for a route. beware tho, we got stupidly lost in the paris suburbs. must have done 10-20 miles further than necessary.
cheers.

don't blame us, the hedgehog had a deathwish!
avenue vert from dieppe is 25 miles of fun. it's the first completed part of the london-paris bike route
bit cold when me n kelvin et al did it tho (we got the overnight ferry, arrived 4am, leaving 4 hours cycling in freezing september darkness).
most necessary point for a proper cycle route is in the endless paris suburbs when you're tired and don't know where you're going.
i've taken my bike on eurostar both ways now (ie: once i booked a place, so it travelled bagless, as cargo on my train; once in a bike bag).
would recommend the second - there were tons of people doing it, including a large group going down to do ventoux...

Only really around Tuesday night this week. Or weekend?
Also, might go for a spin/intervals on Wed morning. Max?
i have a stinking cold, or am just on edge of it, so don't know if i'll be up for wednesday... hold that thought tho elvis, i'll be in touch.
weekend i have to be up in london for some of it, but i want to do lee's ride again on saturday morning if i can. it was a sociable pace with optional sprints. flat-ish, tho more hilly than some weeks - i think lee tends to avoid the big hills. you'd be fine ss or fixed.
