Slick 38s are fine. There's probs clearance for 40-42mm at the fork to be honest, but the chainstays are pretty tight. I had some 35mm GravelKing SKs (the knobbly ones) on there for a while and, clearance at the chainstays was pretty minimal to be honest.

There's someone on instagram who claims to have got 42mm tyres in, but he's lying / has narrow rims / hasn't measured actual inflated width.

I've owned + (regrettably) sold a couple of Genesis Flyers for around the price you have in mind. I like 'em.

The later geometry Medium size is approx 55.5 top tube, iirc.

Bit late, but I picked up a '99 V70 for a smidge over £1k, 3 years ago.

The only thing it's needed in that time (other than routine service stuff) is £140 on some suspensiony bits for the last MOT. It returns 33-34mpg for me. I don't care when someone 'parks' into it.

Had 5 bikes and 3 people in it once, eventually.

I did actually measure them (to try and gauge how much more I could get away with...), from memory they came out at 32.5mm on those narrow rims.

It's long gone, unfortunately. I miss it dearly.

I might have a cheapo kickstand here somewhere, but then again I probably chucked it. Let me see.

If anything falls through on the saddle, bars, and crankset, I'd take the lot.

It quite literally says sold in two different places, so I'd say it was unlikely.

I've got a set of Shimano RX31s here (Camberwell, SE5) that match what you're after - 100 / 135mm QR, can chuck in a spacer for the freehub so it'll take an 11 speed cassette.
