^^^ and ^^^^: agreed. I'm not particularly convinced BoJo is super essential to keeping things together and while I do hope he survives, I won't be sending him too many thoughts and prayers, BUT I do think this whole "oh is he taking away a bed from someone more needy" is just appealing to the lowests possible instincts.

I'll have a more detailed read at some point, scrolling through this sentence caught my eye:
Das würde dem Rest der Volkswirtschaft wieder eine rasche Rückkehr in annähernden Normalbetrieb erlauben und die Aussicht eröffnen, dass diese Krise nicht größer wird als die Wirtschafts-und Fi-nanzkrise 2009.
Quick translation: this would allow the rest of the economy to rapidly return to an almost normal state and opens up the prospect of this crisis not getting any larger than the one of 2009.

None of that really says anything about his intelligence being 'supposed' or a 'myth'. I don't think many people would claim he's a genius, but in the broad general sense one talks about people being 'intelligent', he definitely is. This is especially apparent when juxtaposed with Trump, who just bloody isn't.
Not that any of what you said there is wrong of course.

In general though, 1000 people tested when the are already badly ill VS 1000 people tested when they are asking for a test is going to result in a higher relative death rate.
Exactly - I only mentioned the much higher rate of testing before, but you're right of course, even with the same number of tests it depends on who you're testing.

precious time would be wasted as that power is realigned
Serious question though: is the current situation not one in which the civil service left to its own devices + some caretaker PM might actually be more quietly efficient than all the politicians on top? Are they really adding all that much at the moment?
Sure, at least in the UK they're maybe not openly obstructionist like in the US, but still...

That's the thing with Boris, he is actually pretty intelligent and I'm pretty sure he e.g. knows exactly how important those bloody foreigners are for the NHS. He just chooses to ignore that in his quest for power.
I honestly don't know whether that's better or worse than the empty entitled airbag that Trump is.

Although the ones that are triggered by hay fever not so much.
In all seriousness though, even as someone with a hay fever I think having lower general pollution is good as your membranes are just slightly less stressed to begin with.
Obviously that doesn't help when everything is in full bloom and you start to see layers of pollen on cars etc.

Went for a short walk along the riverside a few minutes ago when I absolutely couldn't stand to stay in anymore - yeah it's a bit full out there. My issue is not really with everyone wanting to get some sun and fresh air (and let's face it, the air out there is probably fresher than anyone has had it in the last two hundred years or so), but with some knobs making absolutely no effort to do the whole 'distancing' thing. Ironically not so much all those evil cyclists and bad joggers, but just some normal people going for a walk with their dog.
I also saw a number of old people sitting in cars - clearly they had driven in just to sit in their car by the riverside. I kind of get the idea, but I'm not sure they're helping much either.

Wow someone really likes explicit titles with no underscores.
