Yeh at the moment I'm only here intermittenly (GF works here, me in Zurich) although as of next summer I will be re-locating full time. Definitely keen to show off the AWOL when it's done!
As for tools I have put in a bid on ebay for a used set of both the extractor and lockring tools but they're in the UK. So not available immediately. Also if anyone has a need to borrow other tools I do have a bunch e.g. cassette removal+chainwhip pliers, T47 BB spanner etc. Just send me a message.Yesterday I also smuggled my workstand on the train with me.

So far the plan is to use Sram Force Hydro shifters with the post mount calipers I had before. However, I was thinking of trying out these hydraulic line couplers: https://zenocycleparts.com/collections/q-connector-bicycle-hydraulic-quick-coupler that don’t require re-bleeding. I believe @Jaap has had some success with them.
Cable discs with splitters wouldn’t work so well as the frame uses full length outers so no easy place to add the splitter.

It took way longer than anticipated but frame and forks have been powdercoated and I have some first pics. Colour I settled one was 'Dark Bronze II' from Prismatic powders, it normally appears pretty dark with a stain finish but really shines in the light. Excited to get the frame back and get it built up. Still have the black finishing kit from previously but I think a mix of black and silver could be nice.

Oops commented was directed at me... but basically my route was:
- Started in Tokyo and rode to Mount Fuji
- Fuji to the Irago peninsula (fantastic!)
- Took the short ferry ride across to Toba
- Toba to Kyoto
- Kyoto -> Nara -> Osaka -> Kobe
- Shimanami Kaido
- Hiroshima
- Fukuoka
- Back to KitaKyushu and took the Ferry back to Osaka
- Lake Biwa
- Gifu and back to Mount Fuji
- Back to Tokyo
It was about 3000km riding in about 20 days on the road. Seems like you are already much better prepared than I was. One maybe not so well documented thing I found was that there are large-scale underground bike parking facilities in most major cities that feel safe enough to leave non-valuables with your bike as many people leave the jackets/commuting clothes etc. So I would park up at one of these, unpack my valuables and leave everything including bike bags and go off and explore.
In Tokyo I stayed in Sakura Hotel/Hostel Ikebukoro, which was pleasant and cheap. They also stored my bike travel bag in their luggage room for no cost because I was staying a night at the end of my trip.

But I need to check the fit on a new saddle and my current non-descript black seatpost before commiting
Used thanks. Paying it forward with this one https://prz.io/yPE4arGFp
