I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case yeah, but I don't think it's a great business strategy hah.
He could setup a proper online system and work like half the hours he currently works for the same turnover. Limiting orders by your capacity to deal with them is surely a feature of online sales platforms.

nah id much rather be able to just put it in a basket and pay with paypal and forget, not have to email and reply and pay with his payment system thats older than me and only works half the time. And i hate emailing and finding almost nothing is in stock which happens occasionally. He could save himself an absurd amount of time by making a proper site and have stock levels clearly displayed. Peter's a nice guy but if there was any other option i would use it in a heartbeat.

Very sad to hear, I have always admired his work, such a range of stuff from HPVs to utility bikes. Certainly a source of inspiration for my framebuilding, not that i do anything as innovative or interesting. You would struggle to have more of an influence in the bike industry, so much has come from his work, its unfortunate that he's not more well known/celebrated. Real epitome of the shed engineer. Im sure his work has inspired many more than me, hope he is aware.

a strange hill to die on, this guy may or may not exhibit exceptional genetics in elite endurance sport. but its damn handy to be genetically gifted and the majority of athletes at the pinnacle of these are sports are. You cant blame scouts for seeking that. No one is telling 10 year olds to sell their bikes because they dont have enough alveoli or whatever.
