Even if you get the shifter fixed, it won't work with a 9 speed rd. Shimano changed mtb cable pull with 10 speed, you'd have to use a 10 speed road shifter that's not Tiagra 4700 (or a 10 speed mtb rd with the saint shifter).

According to Sheldon's stats, shouldn't you be able to run a 7400 RD with a 7700 (or other) shifter on an 8speed setup?

How much will I die if I use a separate PSU to power my GPU? Need to fit a new graphics card into an older workstation with proprietary psu connectors to the motherboard that doesn't have any spare 6pin connectors (gpu needs one) so I was thinking of using a separate psu just for those 75w until I figure out how to do a psu swap (or buy a new mobo)
