Fill out the report crime form on the Met Police website and they will visit you and make a statement, be as accurate and fair as you can, I wouldn't go into why you were in 'the middle of the road', you are fully entitled to be there and not be assaulted.
It's essential that you get camera footage from other passing drivers/cyclists/local shops/restaurants/pubs etc. If there's a bus lane then a passing bus might have captured it. You can also request traffic cam and local authority camera footage. But you have to be quick. Go back to the scene and look for cameras pointing in the direction. The police will not have time to do this for you.
If you get footage of him rear ending you then that's great. If not then the driver will still be summoned to a police station to give their own statement which won't result in anything but is a reminder to not be a dick, and still takes time out of their day.
MUST get witnesses at collisions like this. Absolutely essential, easier said than done when youve been hit of course, but otherwise its your word against theirs.

We’ve just adopted our sweet Ragdoll. She’s super cute and seems to be settling ok after a tough 3 weeks.
One thing we’re struggling with is what to do about her access to the front door. The back door is super safe leading into a good size garden and allotments behind, so we’ve been letting her get out there and she doesn’t stray far.
But she is totally determined to get out the front door when we come in, which leads directly onto a busy road, it’s instant death there. But she is so keen she will shoot between your legs out the moment you open the front door. What can we do? She will get run over within 5 mins of being out the front.

Sorry offering non requested comment - but I would deffo push for dynamo lights to begin with if you can afford it now. Dynamo lights are simply the best for commuting. You might be thinking about adding them in the winter, but even in the summer they will add an extra safety/visibility benefit, might be more expensive and faff overall to upgrade in the future. My 2p.

Changing the brake pads to something better will make the best bang for buck difference. Swisstop flashpro BXP are pretty much as good as it gets for aluminium rim wheels.
Otherwise upgrading the brakes themselves will do a lot, as mentioned above Tektro brakes do 'work', but I personally wouldn't use them and you easily feel the difference with quality brakes. Claris is fine, but any Shimano rim brakes will work, you can get them for a song these days so theres no point the effort of upgrading to getting cheap Claris, I'd look for a pair of second hand 105 rim brakes. Ask on the forum, someone will have a set for you.

Our mortgage advisor was exactly the same. We went for 5 years in the end, but we had to ask specifically about it, and whether as it was historically low where it was a good idea to get a long one. She agreed after asking specifically, but didn’t suggest it.
It seems blindingly obvious in hindsight.

Isn't that the point of rate rises? To cool the economy down.
