Has anyone got one of these Sakae dust caps (metal, threaded) they'd be willing to part with?
Just took the Dawes* out for a round the block post-build check-ride. Got home to tighten a few things up. Fuck. The dust cap's gone. Went out to try and spot it, not a chance...*Two steps forward, one back news. Managed to bend the forks back so they're reasonably true. And put some small indents in while I was at it. Jesus. However am now fearing fork failure so would like to swap them out sooner rather than later. That aside, it is really nice to ride so shall press on.

Nasty, sorry to hear and get well soon.
Will be in a massive black estate car packed to the gunnels and roofbars, so bikeless :-(
Might be able to get on the tube-thing if I don't run out of time (energy), what's your nearest stop?
...or, if I can't straighten the bendy-one out (or I break it) on Sunday, would be more than happy to paypal for it and the post if that would work for you? -

Yes. I had the build hooked up on a rafter, sans wheels, while I was tidying up. Naturally gravity played it's hand and it fell fork first. Now, whether that made things worse to what may not have been super-straight in the first place, I don't know. When I put the bearing's in with the front wheel (now with the 28's on) could see the clearance towards the downtube wasn't right. And the bearing's won't seat at the bottom. Result? Me with a right mardy-arse on.
Now, have been told that I could try and put the forks in a vice and carefully* and pull them out, using the frame for the leverage. If the steeerer tube's cracked I guess it'll fail anyway (better on the bench anyway. Will tap the bottom-race-washer thing out to check.) Maybe?

@Bugno for the mudguards. All good.

*For forks sake.
Apologies for the crap humour but it's not been a good morning. I may well need a new (old) set of forks.
1" threaded, 700c, drilled, steerer tube is 150mm. Would prefer R531 and something to match (ish) the early '80's frame. Will likely paint a scrappy one but would be happy for anything that isn't bent. Grr. -
