Was very much in support of what you said and it's my bad for becoming incoherent. Got an angry bee in my bonnet and went off on a tangent about some shit that makes me angry because my (very tertiary educated) kids are so frustrated about politics / political establishment that appears so dysfunctional and so they're likely to reject the 'you'll be more productive - because 'we' need you to be / you bloody well better be - as we're relying on you' line :-(

an educated society is a productive society.
But perhaps less economically so from a traditional 'common-wealth' perspective (as tax contributions would accrue to in my world, and I'm very happy to pay my share), as with education comes the recognition of powerlessness / disenfranchisement that many face, with the result being a choice to reject the societal 'game' (of mortgage / savings / retail-therapy / support of the service sector.) The danger then is falling government revenue and so an even worse erosion of services. Not shopping with the tax-avoiders also wouldn't then help, so is it a double bind?
I'm not in this group so much, but all my children are (better educated than me) and I don't hear much other than frustration, anger, rejection and a determination to pursue alternative, less selfish, agendas. And on reflection, for me, that's actually a good thing because no-one in 'power' seems to give a shit about them. -

Lovely moment... drafting through Didcot town centre this evening (so glamour!) spotted a pizza delivery lady heading rapidly towards the kerb from the shop, big stack of boxes, reading (probs checking) the order before jumping in the car. Shouted 'Pizza!', she glances up, spins 360 with the boxes balanced on one hand and stays on the path, we both laugh out loud as I pass and everything's good.

This. I paid £12, sans the cassette.
They're 8spd Shimy (the cassette's done maybe 1200km), 600 Tricolor hubs which are not bad externally (good chrome) - I rebuilt them with new bearings and they're pretty smooth. Front's a tiny bit wibbly but well useable. Rear's sound.
Front rim is a Mavic Open 4CD, dark grey finish, 36 hole clincher. Not bad nick, I've ridden it for c.1000kms and it's been well behaved.
Rear is a Campag Omega 19, 36, 126mm OLD. It's, hmm, suffering. I replaced two spokes. Another has pinged-broke (just discovered). Spoke nipples are not good and some of the spoke nuts are seized. Honestly? It's fucked unless you really needed an Omega 19 and were happy to rebuild it.
Want the lot for 12 notes? Would be pricey to post (like another £12!) so could do a local (Oxfordshire-ish) meet or might be able to get them up to the London Famous London next month. Basically they'll go in the shed until I move or die if they don't sell, so not rushed.
cheers

Usual 'morning' from fellow commuter, heading the other way from me. Still has his usual boardshorts on. Faaaack!
