Yep. I think you'll need new bearings in one of the hubs. I remember changing them when I converted them to thru axle.

White Industries MI6 6-bolt disc hubs. 32h. Ti freehub. I have axles/endcaps for both 100x15/142x12 and QR. Thru axles were a special order from the US and cost more than I'm asking alone. Bearings smooth all round as you'd expect. Polish up a treat.

Catch: These have been on my MTB for 2 years and 2500km or so. IMHO they are not tough enough for use on a hardtail hence sale. I found the bearing preload (3 grub screws - see WI tech docs) tend to come loose after a couple of rides. They were used on a gravel bike before with no such issues.
