On repairs - just spoke to the manager (I think) at Son of a Stag when I took my pair in. Opening a second shop nearby largely to increase repair capacity. Hoping to do same day repairs - clearly a growth industry.

Sorry but want to avoid p+p hassle on these bulky/low value items.

Used to be regularly invited to plain old 'Brown bag on [Technology x]' and a straw poll showed that no-one in my dept actually knew what it meant. I think it originates with optional drop-in lunchtime lectures at US unis.

First time I vaguely realised it was American, I thought it was an evening bring-a-bottle thing, because you always saw people disguising bottles from the 'liquor store' in films.

Think if it as the path taken by the inner cable changing, as the outer bends. The inner does not precisely track the centreline of the outer, and the effect is more obvious with multiple tight bends.

Very scruffy due to overenthusiastic attempt at decal removal. I had these on my bike with strips of black electrical tape over, and they looked OK. 3T's bar width is measured across lever clamp area. 31.8mm diameter.

Oh I always soak the starch out. But for me the crotch starts going through well before there is any appreciable wear elsewhere. I get them reinforced with another layer on the inside as soon as it starts and at least one repair when that goes. Must be the way I walk or something.

Zero. It's worth using it I think, as otherwise your recorded location may 'wander' when stationary and give you erroneous data (and look untidy on the Strava map. Especially when you forget to manually pause at a lunch stop).

I went Ryanair, wasn't taking a bike though as I hired one there. Friends have flown to Barcelona and taken train to Girona.
