Is Caputo blue worth it over other (Shipton Mill, in my case) 00? The local wholesaler has it back in stock at £1.75 a kilo bag or about £21 for a 25kg sack. Am wondering if it's worth the storage faff of the latter, but as they do Napoli chip mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, etc. will probably get some bags either way to try out.
(Edit: they also have Polselli and Dallagiovanna; not sure I'm obsessive/consistent enough to see if there's any difference between them...) -

I mostly use the classic rack for my Barley, but that's for ease of removal more that for the support itself. When loaded for touring I suppose I've got 10-15 kg in the saddlebag, which feels like a bit much to be hanging off the saddle rails. While a Carradice isn't a weight-weenie option, I suppose I'm just intrigued as to how minimal a support you could make. Both the bagman QR and the classic rack are IIRC ~350g, which is comparable with a lightweight pannier rack like the Tubus Fly. The titanium Airy pannier rack is ~230g, and the René Herse front rack is ~190g; I'd assume that you could get a custom support at that kind of weight.

This is a question for my fantasy future bespoke fast tourer/audax bike - could you have an (ideally easily removable) support for a Nelson/Camper-sized saddlebag (so for 15kg max?) that would be lighter-weight than a bagman/classic rack/Tubus airy/fly. I feel like this should be possible if suitably triangulated, but am always slightly dubious as to whether putting bending loads into the seatstays is the best of ideas.

Something like a padlock alarm or an alarmed cafe lock? E.g. http://www.personalalarms.com/cgi-bin/sh000002.pl?WD=lock%20alarm&PN=copy_of_Minder_Padlock_Alarm_%2d_Ideal_to_Prevent_Oil_Diesel_Theft%2ehtml#SID=259?a548
Have seen people recommend things like the latter on the CTC forums as a touring lock.

Made pizza in the Karu Saturday, firing on hardwood alone, and as a windy day it was possibly getting too hot - pizzas cooking in under 60 seconds, and burning a bit too easily. Possibly worth getting an IR thermometer after all, and maybe fiddling with the chimney vent to see what effect it has on temperature?

If you're just taking tools and a tube, lunch, and a jacket, a Barley/Super C Audax is great, and would be ideal for a century ride. I use mine on a Carradice Classic Rack (needs a saddle with bag loops) but have found it's ok without a support, especially if you put some correx or similar inside the bag to stiffen it up. If you don't travel particularly light/want to take a picnic blanket/might want to use it to pick up shopping/want to use it for credit card touring, get a Nelson or Nelson Longflap; marginally heavier, but much more useable volume.
What solution have they offered? Will the parcel eventually come back to you?
I suspect distance selling regs/sale of goods act might be a useful stick to beat them with; otherwise frozen sausages by courier not RM?
