There's an epic thread about Alfine (& Nexus) maintenance somewhere on the Cycling UK (CTC as was) forums by the user 'Brucey'. He's a walking encyclopedia on IGHs, and AFAIK a retired materials scientist who likes mucking about with bikea. IIRC he reckons the stock lubricant isn't mobile enough; his recommendation was to add 25 ccs gear oil and run it for a couple of months, which should loosen up what's inside, and then switch to using a semi-fluid grease with corrosion inhibitors and EP additives; something like Land Rover swivel grease should work.

Likewise; I just came across this thread and have read my way through it. I don't think we covered AM at all during my aero eng degree, though I guess some of the lecturers may have been doing research on it.
Is fatigue resistance not an issue with printed lugs, or are there AM techniques where this isn't a problem?

Yeah, in a sane world 'give priority to vaccinating the executive' shouldn't be controversial, and should indeed be publicised to try and increase vaccine uptake. I may think our current cabinet are a shower of cunts, but I have no problem with them getting jabs early.
As others have said, there's going to be some dodgy as fuck base-appeasing going on here somewhere.

I mean, the Black Country is stuck in/hankering for the 70s (if not further back) in many ways; I cannot imagine that the gammony horse-racing types round these parts are in any way unaware of the phrase. Whether they've desperately looked for an excuse after the fact, or were smirkingly seeking plausible deniability beforehand, ban the fuckers pour encourager les autres.

Found the article I was thinking of - it was a Glasgow club: https://www.cyclinguk.org/sites/default/files/documents/magazine/pdf/cuk201805036.pdf

Ace stuff. Does 'drum up' refer to lighting a fire specifically then? I think I first saw in a CTC mag article about a Glasgow(?) group that rode up into the hills for a drum up; without context I'd have presumed it was a synonym for 'brew up'.
Alas, the West Mids are built up enough that our group rides pretty much always stop at a cafe or somewhere else not conducive to pyromania. On solo rides I sometimes take the Trangia or a meths stove at this time of year, but might have to ask around if there are any local spots suitable/amenable to fire; I can think of a couple of potential candidates, but don't know if they're on farm land. -

Depends on the kind of Jazz, surely? Insipid elevator music/Michael Buble/etc. not my thing, but Oscar Peterson/Vince Guaraldi/Ella Christmas numbers are another kettle of fish.
