When I've bought flax oil for seasoning iron cookware (i.e. only smallish amounts required), I've found the cheapest/easiest to find in the shops has been this stuff: https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/organic-oil/granovita-organic-flaxseed-oil-260ml
Not purified, so not sure how suitable it is for wood sealing - it's the same greeny-yellow colour as extra virgin olive oil.

X-posted from the working at home thread: any first-hand recommendations for a flipchart easel that's not too expensive, durable and can be raised fairly tall? I need one for some online workshops I'm running next week, but on putting up the one I bought, one of the legs tore out of the (melamine-faced) chipboard. Looking at the reviews on Amazon/eBay it seems to be a bit of a crapshoot as to what you get. As I'm only going to use it occasionally I'm not going to spend £hundreds on a posh one, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious quality difference between the £40 unbranded ones and anything under under £90 or so.

My kids' primary (West Mids) is not opening this week; we got a text yesterday saying the school would be closed today for an emergency planning day, and this morning they sent out a letter saying a number of staff had given S.44 notice and that they were going to switch to home learning. As a parent this is a PITA; as a governor I have to say I support them 100%. At the moment local infection rates are ~425/100,000, but that's up by about a third from over Christmas, so it's only really anticipating the inevitable by a week or two. Going to pick up activity/learning packs for the week this PM, and we'll see how we get on...

Yeah, the omission of the Navy/Marine Corps from the act is slightly weird, given that the Marines have the equivalent of a couple of rapidly-deployable infantry divisions; as you note, the Act's provisions are applied to the Navy through regulations. The Coast Guard are a law enforcement organisation as well as a uniformed service, but they're presumably constrained in a similar fashion (and, purely pragmatically, are less likely to have the forces suitable for staging a coup).

Ha, the best sources! (Not like loads of my knowledge comes from The West Wing, no sirree...)
My take on that letter is it's just a reminder to the military that whatever crazy shit Trump may try and pull (and he's clearly more than a little deluded/desperate), their oath is to the constitution rather than to anything else. TBF the heads of the professional military (as opposed to whatever bootlicker Trump installs as acting SecDef) are usually pretty clear on that.

These days the ordering window seems to be about 10 minutes or so; basically you need to be there refreshing the site at 1pm on the Sunday and have all your bits to hand (cards, authentication card reader, etc.) It adds a certain frisson to the process I guess, but I've never had a problem - I just set an alarm.

A local(ish) football club was dinged recently for having lock-ins at their ground: https://brownhillsbob.com/2020/12/09/west-midlands-police-statement-illegal-lock-in-broken-up-at-football-club-in-walsall/

Had a Marston's Horninglow No.2 imperial stout with lunch, and really enjoyed it. No pastry stout gimmicks*, just a big stout† with the dial turned up.
*Not that I dislike a good pastry stout; just that they seem to have become ubiquitous.
†By modern standards, I suppose 7.5% is merely a medium stout... (Though that may have gone up slightly as the bottle conditioned.) -

I wonder whether it's an attempt to pre-empt the batshit Republican noise about how this has been stolen? They're a lost cause, obviously, but it gets the clear lead established as the story for everyone else.
