Fully moved in now. The house came complete with two satellite dishes and four tv ariels (3 installed inside the loft), yet none of the aerial leads have a signal.

if you're just looking for a generally decent road bike, you can get something cheaper for sure and this isn't a fantastic opportunity.

That pretty much sums it up. I won't pursue it, I'd rather spend more on even a second hand bike to get a better package

I'm open to both. I would rather buy new and spend a little more to get exactly what I want. If new, and for that money, I'd want something a bit louder than the Ribble, cheers for the suggestion though

Funnily enough the landlord never actually fixed ours, the flat would be come so intolerably hot in the summer which dried it out, so that satisfied them. And we were too cold and depressed in the winter to bother kicking up a fuss.
