Personal progression and stress relief/mental health, I've played sport in one form or another since under 10s rugby (Currently 26). Now i row and cycle, my main competition is in rowing so I've focused mainly on that for the last few years. I train to keep up/out perform against my squad members, I love being part of a crew and always want to be my best for all. I'm not the best at following a firm training plan but mix indoor rowing workouts with trainerroad sessions of late which i have seen a lot of results when on the water, but that might be from going from 81.5kg at the start of lockdown to 73.7kg now and have had very little difference in power/splits (erg).
Focusing more on cycling, I love the result training has on speed but I really couldn't care less about Strava segments, it's more about how I feel when riding the bike. I do enter the odd competition on the bike, with my first 10TT coming up on Wednesday. The one thing i don't like about doing all of this training is the expectation of others/peers, I work with a few cyclists and they put a lot of pressure on me with riding e.g they think I can do a 22minute 10 on a road bike.... So for this reason I have the majority of my sessions private on Strava.
Nothing beats a hard training session when you push yourself to being sick though :)

WIP : waiting on -17 stem
Struggling to get the front mech working, stupidly haven't installed a cable tensioner which is next to do so hopefully that will solve the issue. Need to sort out the bars, only noticed the issue once when looking at this picture. I lent my mate the rear wheel so will have that back for the weekend to hopefully take it out for a spin.

Thanks, i have looked at trainerroad and it does seem to be good. I have a decent indoor set up so will start a plan on monday.
I'll look into clubs, my main sport is rowing so a weekday evening tt would suit well. And i would definitely enjoy beating people who are in full tt mode on a 9kg+ steel road bike.
How much speed do you gain from a good fitting tt bike to a road bike? (Might be asking how long is a piece of string)

So I've just done a 24.35 10m on my isen, on an unofficial course by the A11 in Norfolk with alot of roundabouts. I've got a giant trinity (old style) but am struggling with the fit so have just been using it sparingly on the turbo. Should i wait to get a bike fit and follow a training plan indoors in the meantime? Does anyone know a good plan? I'm very green to time trials so any advice on how to train/get started would be great

So the caad is finally... getting pieced together. Was searching for a while for a decently priced sram groupset but found an ultegra 6800 for a 100 so couldnt say no. Also have a fsa slk light crankset coming which i'll debadge.
Things to do are, get a bb tool (remove existing)
Order new cables.
Wheels (will put on some beater wheels for the time being) until i find a good deal on 50mm carbon ones.
Longer stem: x2 110mm/120mm preferably if anyone wants to swap?? -

Laka says the below; don't know if insuring it for what i paid for it would be underinsuring as can't replace like for like
Your Laka policy will be on a “new for old” basis, this means that if you have to claim we will replace your bicycle or accessories as new or with the nearest available, new, equivalent.
We won't apply depreciation of the value of your bike over time.
Remember that the community will not pay out more than the sum insured you’ve selected.
If you insure your bike for much less than the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) or the replacement cost then this means that you're not paying your fair share to the community and so we may have to reduce your claim. This is called underinsurance
