Yes this is what happened, we went to a PC world with most models on display and a decent discount on a Surface book 2. They threw in a pen too which was good.

After some advise:
My wife is after a new laptop, she has always used apple, but now wants to change to PC.

The MS Surface 3 Laptop 256GB SSD 16GB RAM Intel i7 is what she would like.
I am wary its a bit pricey (about £500 more) compared to the equivalent Dell, but she doesn't like the design of Dell and still wants the build quality/feel of a Mac Book.

Can anyone suggest another laptop that might be suitable?

I saved some money buy chasing out for sockets ect... and then making good myself. But letting the pro's fit the wiring. I guess you could run the cables and get someone to connect it all up.

What I didnt do, but wish I did was lift the floor boards myself. The electrician that hacked away at them with a multitool has cost me a lot of time,effort,money having to replace the boards he knackered. I guess this isnt such a problem if you a carpeting though...

Yes I had a similar experience, the website is shocking. I ended up sending a message via PB with my mobile number and the seller called back. We then negotiated a price over the phone, was all pretty civilized with no estate agents/PB involved.

I still had to submit the final offer via PB, but that was the only contact I had with them. After that it was just the usual solicitor stuff. When we completed I cycled down and met the seller who gave me the keys. Job done. CSB

I've done a fair amount of the unskilled work myself. Ripping up carpets, removing all the staples, nails, carpet grippers ready for sanding. Stripping wall paper, cleaning walls and knocking off loose plaster ready for plastering. Also knocking through 4 fireplaces and unblocking chimney stacks was enough for 1 weekend.

I think part of employing other to do some of the work, therefore progressing when I'm at work. Helps me stay enthusiastic about having an uninhabitable house that I'm paying bills ect on...

Yes, I've decided to pay someone, who is good at it. That is usually the best way.

Regarding messy work, we are waiting until plastering/painting is finished before we sand the floors. (employ someone to sand the floors)

Just stripped the wood chip wallpaper from walls. Its taken off some of the plaster and revealed a lot of small holes/gashes in the plaster. I started filling/sanding but it doesn't look good.

So now thinking it needs a skim. I'm meeting a plasterer this evening, but tempted to have a go myself. Watched a few youtube videos, which make it seem possible.

The whole house would need doing at some point if we decide to remove all wood chip. So maybe learning a new skill could prove useful....cost effective

Good quality, has a certain style which makes them stand out, organic/natural fabrics (if that's a thing... I guess similar to ventile) often pop up on sport pursuit, but yeah even discounted, still pricey. I have a bag from them, I like it.

Portus cycles as has built a brilliant e-cycle truck, the double headlights are a nice touch.

Regarding roof rack..... I used these roof bars on my panda, we very easy to fit and look neater than the other style IMO.
