Braverman with the zingers the day before election
Suella Braverman says today that the prime minister’s attacks on racist views expressed by Reform candidates has less force because the party he leads - and she aspires to lead - kept Frank Hester’s millions. Quite extraordinary attack on the eve of polling day, in the Telegraph. She says “whatever the ‘smartest men in the room’ may privately think, the public are not in fact mugs”.

Yes but they keep freezing the tax thresholds which drags more low earners and pensioners in to being taxed. One of the reasons Reform are looking to raise the threshold to 20k (and they have a large black hole in thier spending plans), don't think I've seen other parties looking to move the threshold although greens are looking to merge NI and Income tax at the lower threshold I think and conservatives now proposing to make the threshold age related so it would track state pension to keep them out of it.

But that by far the largest group of people in the country appear to be about to vote for a straight-down-the-middle, sensible-if-stolid Labour party, does not suggest that they are looking to extremists as the answer.
15-20% of the country do indeed appear to be about to vote for a mad old racist, but I don't think you can tar 'the people' with that brush
I don't believe the majority see extremists as the answer but the majority voting Labour isn't an endorsement that Starmerism is what the majority want is it? And more a product of our crap two party system and one of the parties being rubbish for 14 years and any other vote viewed as wasted

I find the pile on, on someone saying they consider reform an option slightly odd and does show how heavily the demographic of the forum is skewed (which is fine but people should deluded themselves thier is a mix of voices). I get the bashing of Tice and Farage as they are a negative influence on politics in my opinion but if you are socially and fiscally conservative and don't like FPTP, who else should you vote for?
Seems strong centrist dad vibes to oppose everything that challenges the status quo and keeps us locked in a two party system that isn't working
I'm surprised so many of the political compasses didn't come out more authoritarian as a lot of people seem to be against people having views different from thiers

Currently traveling through France and Spain on the train, it's 25-30 which is the limit of what I want to be out in all day doing tourist stuff, would much prefer 22-26 but work and family say no.
Apart from schools forcing when you can go, I don't get going late July/ August to Southern Europe for a holiday
If I'd known the UK weather would of been so good I would of probably been happy going UK holiday but was organised last minute and wanted to escape the never ending gloom we were having
So is it going to be five years of editorial of how Labour have ruined the country and thrown away all the great successes?
