Worth a punt then do you think? Obvious alternatives are Supernova E3 Pro 2 which seems to get good reviews for road riding, or Schmidt Edelux II or B&M IQ-X. All between £100-£140, anyone got anything to weigh in for/against any of them?
The only thing I can see that's an obvious advantage of the revo over the others is it's off-road credentials, which could come in useful in the future possibly.

Exposure Revo for sub £140 - nearly pulled the trigger myself but it's probably OTT for road which is primarily what I plan to use it for.

That's worth knowing, and very very reasonable.
I was starting to lean towards the shimano XT hub as it's user serviceable. I fired an email over to SPA cycles about it (they list the 1.5w version on the website and I'm after the 3) and got this response, which has some useful info:
(In answer to my question 'do you stock the 3w XT hub')
"No we don't, but should be able to get one in to order. It's charging devices that must have 3w, modern LED lights only need 1.5w, which lets the hub run much freer.
Shimano dynohubs were proven to be good in the past, with few failures. What failures we had were due to the cones wearing out. Only one side was replaceable, despite the hubs being serviceable which SON and SP are not. Can't comment on the durability of current Shimano dynohubs since we've only sold a small anount in comparason to SP and SON. I would say we've had a 1% failure rate with SP, but some of these have been after the 2 year warranty, but we have nevertheless underwrote the warranty.
SP hubs should last for 20,000km+ and guaranteed for 2 years. SON for 50.000km plus and guaranteed 5yrs.
For what it's worth, I've got a Kinlin XR26T built into a XT 785 (1.5w) centrelock on my bike, because I think it rolls much easier than any other dynohub I noticed and commented on by the wheelbuilders), except possibly the SON Deluxe. I could've had either, but like the idea that the XT is servicable and I only use headlights.
We can bulid one up on the Kinlin and the cost would be £155 with XT or PD hubs.
Let me know what you think?
Kind regards,
John."

What's the deal with servicing SP hubs?
I presume the bearings are replaceable like any sealed bearing hub?
Im guessing you have to send the hub away to have the internals serviced?
Jesse won the trans AM in 2015 on a SP so they can't be all bad but I guess the difference is he could afford to bin it when he was finished if he wanted to.
I'm very much a Dynamo noob but it's something I'm currently looking at for a bit of touring this summer.

I too looked for rim options, my best finds were;
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/wtb-frequency-i-19-mtb-rim-2016/rp-prod139449
but I don't know how it'll cope with road pressures?or these:

https://spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s116p3834/KINLIN-XR-26TI'm sure there are plenty of cheaper options but I wanted a disc specific, wide, light, black rim.

Yeah fair enough, it's entirely likely that storing files locally is something they'll add in due course, especially if people keep asking for it, I can't imagine it's hard to do. They seem relatively responsive to user feedback so far. Fair point about trying to lower the level of risk, that makes sense.
I think whether they survive depends on what they do with pricing and how quickly they ramp up the software development, people are going to want to see new features on a monthly basis, bringing features upto wahoo/garmin level in a year or so. If they manage that they might stand a chance.
-
As always, to each their own, but I'm really surprised this is such a big issue to so many people. The only reason I can think this would be a pain is if you're a pro athlete and you absolutely MUST HAVE your data immediately post ride and HH's servers happen to be down, for us mere mortals, what's the big issue? Genuine question..
-
eh? Android is an OS not an app.
Doesn't really matter what the OS is as long as it's fit for purpose, I imagine using android gave them a huge leg up when starting development rather than starting from scratch as it contains so many features natively. Currently it's just lacking a bunch of features that is going to separate it from the rest of the market.
-
That said, to call the Karoo an android device is really true only in the strictest of senses as virtually all the functionally of android is stripped out. If it weren't for the keyboard and the 'pull down' menu from the top of the screen you almost wouldn't know it's android.
I think it could potentially be the best device on the market if they ramp up the software development and really nail it.

Sorry to dig this thread up but I've been looking at merino jerseys and the TORN stuff looks ace.
Is there any difference between all the SS jerseys apart from the colours? Same for the LS jerseys? Are they all essentially the same jersey with slightly different designs?
Does anyone have the base layers and do they rate them? Looking at them vs. the genuine article from Rapha and dhb's merino base layers. Cheers.

I'm now looking at the "Classic II Rain Jacket" as my current rain cape is a cheapo castelli bin bag thing I bought years ago, it works, but it's not great. This would be a significant step up, does anyone have any experience with it? Rapha has a lot of stuff in their range and it's sometimes hard to pin down which product is for what. Is this packable into your back pocket if you go out in the wet and the rain stops?
That's true, That really makes it worth while as it basically brings it to the price of the others... unfortunately I'm not a member :-/ is it a code or do you link your accounts somehow? I'm guessing I'd have to get someone who's a member to order it?
