Right, after almost buying a shiny new Ultegra 11-speed front mech for just £9, i ordered one of these for £6 to collect at the store.

As for the headset, i ordered a basic, yet favourably reviewed, £10 jobbie. I rang RIbble and they confirmed the ID and the angles.

Standard Deda bar tape is also on order for £1. It's purple...but it was £1, which seems reasonable. Besides, if it gets nicked it's easier to identify, right? It's also that garish it might prevent it getting nicked.

These calipers need new pads, too. I've a feeling that 'budget brake pads' is a bad idea. Should i cough up, or get some sort of Yugoslavian re-moulded pads?
They're 105 calipers...what do i need?
EDIT: Current build cost £162

Thanks for the words, chaps.
Another dumb question...would an ultegra 11-speed double front mech work on my 105 10-speed set up? Surely there can't be that much variance between a 10-speed and 11-speed front mech?
And @chiroshi, what does this mean in terms of buying a headset?

I'll start out by saying that i am not a cyclist. I would very much like to be though, and my old mountain bike just isn't up to the task. I want to build a road bike, but due to house-buying circumstances i have a very limited budget of £250. I looked at what i could buy for £250 but i didn't think any of the offerings out there would be worthy. So...with an allan key set and a great deal of enthusiasm i have begun.
To start with, i bought this...

It's a Specialized Secteur with a cracked top tube. I bought it for the princely sum of £70. It has 105 shifters, 105 crank, 105 BB and 10 speed casette, a 105 chain, tiagra front and rear mech, 105 SPD-SL's, RS501 wheelset, and handlebars and other shit.
I also saw one of these for cheap in white.

It was £85, but i had a £10 off code for Ribble so it came to £75. Build cost so far £145.
I've stripped off as much as possible using what little knowledge i have. Everything came off relatively easily, and it has all been de-greased, polished, and then re-greased and fitted to the new frame. I'm also going to use the forks as they're in good nic. This might also be because the front brake bolt is stripped so it's going nowhere.
I'm now at this stage...

So...a couple of things.
I need a new front mech as the donor bike is a braze on, and i will need a band on. I'll source from ebay or here. I'll also need new cables and housing throughout, along with some bar tape.
The last thing i need, or the next thing as it were, is a headset. The issue is....i don't know what sort of headset i need. The head tube at the top has a diameter of 42mm. I can get other measurements if needed, but can anyone point me in teh right direction please?
Do i fuck. Looking at other bikes though it appears that the wrap changes direction halfway, so i'm also presuming i do some sort of wrap/figure 8 under the rubbed hood?
